This is 'This Just In'

You're reading "This Just In," CNN's new news blog.

You’ll find all the breaking news of the day here, from big stories like earthquakes and elections to interesting notes on the naming of the world’s richest man and Charlie Sheen’s return to his sitcom.

There’ll be posts from yours truly and the staff of CNN at large to give you the latest from the CNN Wire, plus the scoops and interviews and insight that make this a really fun and interesting place to be. You’ll know when we have live streams of events and videos of news can be posted within minutes of them coming in. Whatever confirmed information we're hearing and reporting is what you'll be reading and watching.

We aim to look far and wide at what you and the rest of the Web community are interested in and talking about with features like Web Pulse - which takes a look at the collective conversation of the internet according to Google trends, Twitter, etc. This is also the place to find out who the day’s Most Intriguing People are and there’s easy access to our Twitter account @cnnbrk.

We are essentially in "beta mode" right now, so this is a great time to let us know what you think. You can comment on every post, so get to it.

Gotta go now, news is breaking.

What we need is a President who acts like the most powerful person in the world with the best country in the world behind him/her. Instead of them worrying about getting reelected, get things done. Do whats best for the country not whats best for whos in you pocket book.

I really hope the best through the storm. Looking through websites about the storms, I get ferious that parents with kids are staying and not leaving in manatory evacuation areas. They are risking their kids lives. I really would hope they would put a law in where anyone with children under a certain age have to leave when there is a manatory evacuation. There could be charges like endangerment of their child(ren)j's lives. If anything, God forbids it to happen, happens to a child(ren), they can be charged up to some rectless homacide if a child(ren) would die in such area. Parents, what are you thinking staying in a storm that risk your child(ren)'s lives, plus will scare them even dramatizing them for future storms. Someone needs to step up and start doing something about these parents!!! My prayers are for you all.

i am very upset...received a Mike Huckabee call today asking for backing, and money, to defeat the "ObamaCare" law...I told them....of all days, why 9/11, to continue the political negativity that is prevalent from Washington...this is supposed to be a day of brotherhood and unity...not divisiveness.

How come Timothy Geithner is so focused on EU financial problems, when US can not fix their own budget and extreme spending – causing more panic to the general crisis and more Americans without job and educational work. Could the reason be to move attention away, though bad news today will also be bad news tomorrow.
Would it be more fair to say that we are linked together ? I just wonder

I THINK YOU BETTER CHECK YOUR FACTS ON THE DATE OF THE JAMES ARTHUR RAY SENTENCING. IT MADE ME WONDER ABOUT ALL THE OTHER 'FACTS' ON YOUR BLOG. IF THERE WAS A HUGE CHANGE IN THE SITUATION OVER THE WEEKEND, AND YOU'RE RIGHT, I APOLOGIZE, BUT EVERYTHING I READ IS CENTERED AROUND THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY'S HEART CONDITION.

News just released in SF Bay Area that Steve Jobs has passed. Very sad for his family, friends, and company. An icon of the valley...seems as though I grew up w/ this industry and this company. HIs passing, I think, expected, but still a shock.

Please drop Erin Burnett's show. She is condescending, pro-wall street, and bias. She is a new low point for CNN. You will have to take her off the air anyway because I SERIOUSLY doubt if any will watch someone who is so connected to Wallstreet. That's why I never watch CNBC! To many pro-business folks who are so out of touch. The workers are not responsible for the financial crisis . . . Wallstreet is! Maybe this is the nature of CNN. News you can't trust! CNN is making a Huge Mistake promoting this women. You need to make a change! Looks like CNN is the new FOX!

She couldn't figure out what's happening even if you gave her a flashlight in the daytime! Wow CNN, who did she sleep with to get this gig?

I agree with the other bloggers. Erin Burnett is so irritating I have to change channels. Her voice is like chalk on a blackboard. Her mannerisms are just too cutesy - they are nausea-inducing. I never thought John King was all that exciting but next to Erin, he's Mr. Charisma. There are many other females deserving of this slot – Kyra Phillips or Brooke Baldwin are two who come to mind. I'm a feminist; I want women to succeed but this gal is setting back the cause. Ah, well, I'm beginning to enjoy Chris Matthews (perhaps he could take a tranquilzer) -

Erin Burnett! I'd love to have been in the programming strategy meeting when someone sold THIS idea. Perhaps the most oddly inappropriate choice EVER for a host. Is she just incredibly superficial? Whatever it is – PLEASE make her go away.
She's an embarrassment to thinking women everywhere.

Oct. 21, 2011 Just heard Wolf Blitzer say President Obama has announced the end of the Iraq war. When was war declared? Didn't President Bush just do what he wanted without a Congressional vote to take the U.S. to war?
