Israel conducts airstrikes on Gaza targets

The Israeli military conducted airstrikes on six sites in Gaza Strip Thursday night in an action it called retaliation for attacks by Palestinian militants.

"The strike comes in response to the deadly rocket firing toward Israel over the past 24 hours, which resulted in the death of a foreign national in Netiv Ha'asara earlier today," Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

The statement was referring to a worker from Thailand who was killed when a rocket fired from Gaza landed inside southern Israel.

Five tunnels used for smuggling and terror activities and a weapons manufacturing site were the targets of the air strike, the IDF said.

"Direct hits were identified," the military statement said. However, no other details were provided on what was hit.

It's hard to believe that Israelis and Palestinians claim to be devout Jews and Muslims while killing in the name of their faith. If they sincerely beleive in the afterlife, they should start considering their actions in this life.

For all those pro-Israeli commenter, just imagine how you would feel if someone comes into your home uninvited with all guns and modern weapons and starts killing your family members, and starts claiming your house as property. Yeah, think about it, think hard and be truthful, and for a minute keep your religious beliefs aside when you are thinking about it. I bet you will fight tooth and nail with all the means you got, when you see your children’s future in danger.

I expected something to happens after that Biden fiasco. Israel want to look that they were in their right to bring up Jerusalem housing projects, so they set up a little shoot out from Gaza to give them the excuse to strike and justify their bad luck around people that don't want them in the area. And that has nothing to do with any biblical versus in the Bible promising the Jews a piece of real estate. If it was realy theirs they wouldn't have waited for 6 millions of them to be exterminate to finaly realize that , hey, we have a land over there that Moses left to us, but then I guess they weren't that interested because they were well off.

To those who take the simplistic approach that ordnance is being launched into Israel without any provocation, do a bit of research as to the conditions imposed upon Arabs in the "contested" areas. They are being herded into ghettos, denied empoyment and education, restricted of resources such as food staples.
I am not pro-Arab, but maintain enough awareness of the situation to reject the ambient sympathy for the state of Israel that exists in the US. The condition has accelerated to the point that the Israeli government does as it pleases with full confidence that no American administration will challenge them, much less make any effort to stop them.
Historically, Israel shoots first, asks questions later and then with complete arrogance blames the other party for their actions. An mortar attack on an occupied Palestinian school is justified with a statement that Hamas fighters were launching grenades from the vicinity, and the world accpts it. Face it, Israel is NOT an innocent party that is existing in peace and being victimized.
The US must stop being the blind benefactor of a government that practices illegal occupation and makes themselves to be the victim. And by the way, the "anti-semitic" epithet so easily tossed at any individual who criticizes Israel is getting old and should be countered with their "anti-gentile" perspectives and practices.

I am amazed at the pros and cons for both Israel and Palestine. Some made good poi9nts, some not. I am beginning to wonder, who are the real enemies and who are not. I can see Israel's point, but I can also see the people that call themselves Paliestinians. It's actually six of one and half a dozen of another. I am against the muslim religion, it is not a real religion as it had started out to be, the god of Israel-who is coincedently the god of Abraham and both were given the task of creating great nations–according to the scriptures anyway. He didn't make them mortal enemies, make them to pit them against one another–or did he? I asked this once before in earlier comment, who is right and who is wrong? who was there first? Sort of like the thing "Which came first the chicken or the egg? Adam and Eve, where they Israelii? The land Cain fled to after slaying his brother Abel, who were they and where did they come from? The bible doesn't mention God made other beiings at the time of Adam and Eve. And the land those people were in, where was it exactly? NO one can tell, No one period end of story.

I had grown up with the knowledge that area, including the Siani was "Holy Land" and that included the areas of the middle east belonging to arabic countries. Quite Frankly I don't see anything holy about it. Is the god of Abraham and the god of Issac and the god of Ismael a war like god and . . . well you get the idea. It's no wonder mankind is falling away from believing,

Sorry fior sounding off like that but . . . I for one cannot believe and religions today and what's been happening in the various sects or denominations world wide . . .

I've read a lot of comments and would like to say something.I can't be objective, because I love and support Israel, but would still like to say the following:
Any civilized person, who knows the facts of history and can differenciate between the culture of middle ages and prosperity of the 21st century – will support Israel.
It's also amazing to read the comments of some people who support the Palestinians, but are actually uneducated, now nothing what's really happening in the region. It's usually pure hatred for Jews and Israelis. While Israelis teach their children of love and peace – palestinians teach hatred- starting at nursury schools!!!The one thing the whole world should know, and Israeli leaders should speak loudly about is the following:If the situation, God forbid, be the other way arround and the Palestinians had the military force, that Israely army has, what do you think would happen? And I'm asking this question not the Palestinians, but some of the so called educated europians, who feel sorry for them.I could tell you a lot of things – like look at the map and try to find Israel or go and visit the country and look at the miracle Israelis created. This could only be accomplished by peace loving people!!!Don't forget, that Israel, irrespective of what's happening is still providing Palestinians with food water and medical supplies.I did my army in 1973 and was in Gaza.
It was a desert and I'm sure would remain the same today if not for Israel who gave the Palestinians jobs and helped to build houses and the whole infrustructer.
None of the land of Israel actually belongs to Palestinians and anybody who really wants to know will discover that by reading some historical facts.
But Israel did committ to a 2 state solution, and if the Palestinian people really want peace and prosperity for themselves, they should stop the hatred and support of organizations like Hamas and Hisbala, who seak the distruction of Israel with support of Iran and Sirya and they crazy leaders. The palestinians should also realize, for their own good, that Achmadinachad will not hesitate to send an atomic bomb, that will also kill all the Palestinians as long as he will wipe out Israel off the map. He doesn't care about them at all! !!! All he cares- is the distruction of Israel!!!Get it through your heads!!!
I wish the common sence will eventually privent among the Palestinian people and they will
realize what kind of leaders they need.
The Palestinians should also understand, that for them and their children, there is no bright future, unless they stop the hatred and stop trying to cut off the hand, that will actually feed them!!!

Send U.S. troops over there to create a Palistine state. Then set up a North Korea and South Korea style border fence with the guns pointed at Israel. That will move the chains!

Amazing how western world supports this terrorist activities by Israel. As if they were all bribed by israelis. How can USA consider Israel to be their ally, when they kill everyone all around them. I would never have a murderer for a friend.
This so called western world even imposed sanctions on Iran, a democratic country with great culture and with over 70 million people, just because Israel has a big mouth and is jelaous of their progress?
Am I missing something? What the hell is wrong here.

Israels responce to one rocket is many rockets. If that ain't over kill I don't know what is. That proves without a doubt that Israel is not a mature and rational State. They kill indiscriminately. That is not Democracy. There goal like I said before is to use up their bomb arsenal so they can get more American tax dollars in aid to buy more bombs. They don't care what the surounding Arab countrys think and that is a big mistake. Our gas prices would be a lot lower if Israel stops acting like a step child.
