Israelis launch air strikes on Gaza

Israeli jets launched eight air strikes early Friday on Gaza, Palestinian officials said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

A spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces said the F-16s hit two weapons factories, one in northern Gaza and the other in central Gaza, as well as two weapons depots in southern Gaza. The strikes were carried out in retaliation against the firing of makeshift Qassam rockets from Gaza into Israel, the spokesman said.

- Journalist Talal Abu-Rahmeh contributed to this report.

I'm getting a little tired of CNN painting Israel in such a dirty light to the American public! We are talking about a nation the size of a peanut that has had to face centuries of persecution. These terrorists don't even want to allow Israel to have the right to EXSIST! They also fire rockets into the country DAILY with no regard for life there. Are we really saying that we are siding with countries that attacked us on our land? Just as we do, they have a right to defend their country and their people. How can you force them to have peace talks with people who don't even think they have the right to live?? It's ludacris for us to think that is a realistic option! Do some research people. Stop swallowing this garbage being fed to us on the news.

Also remember Palestine was the place where public dancing in the streets took place after September 11th. While Israel asked: what can we do. You choose sides.

The cycle of violence will end when people like hamas and the other terror groups funded and most like supplied by Iran and the like either give up their will to take over all of Israel or be eventually eliminated by force. Let's face it, terror is all around us, and worldwide!! So, where do you draw the line for peace?

Gaza was returned to the Palestinians a few years ago (remember?) as a FIRST step to a final settlement with the palestinians and look what has happened since then ... Those Palestinians will never be satisfied until all of Israel falls to the palestinians. It's like poking in the eyes of God... It wouldn't surprise me when a judgment comes to the palestinians; not from the Israelis but from their own mouths. There is a far greater judgment coming to the land.

Humans don't seem to (ever) learn from history.

I am with Israel on this. They have been attacked again & again. when they defend themselves they are labeled monsters. They have the right to defend themselves against those who wish to wipe them from the face of the earth. The same people who chant death to Israel chant death to America. Wake up people !

Sonya... what an emotional and illogical argument. Israel's claim to any land at all is religiously based, and America only supported it to keep Jews from fleeing out OUR country after WWII. We gave you that land the size of a Wendy's on territory occupied (and therefor belonging to) Palestinians. That is the basis of the conflict. You choose sides.

Wow. So because YOU don't believe in the religious beliefs of others, you too condemn them to the fate Tay the palestinians are trying to inflict on them? It is HISTORICAL not Viblical that the israelies and the Arabs are from the same lineage. They have the SAME right to that land as the Palestinians do. You cannot put your western ideology to the eastern religious wy of life. It doesn't apply. And after the horrors they faced in WWII, they should have a safe place to live. It's like siding with a greedy kid who wants all the pie and can't share any with anyone. Crazy. They have a RIGHT to defend their land. Whether you like it or not.

Too bad Hamas maintains the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza by refusing to stop their terrorists from firing Qassam rockets at Israeli children and sniping Israeli troops. In contrast, the West Bank is experiencing an 8% economic growth rate due to increased security, reduced attacks, and joint ventures with Israel high tech.

Who's land is it? No one will agree. Peace can happen only when Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish homeland, Arab governments accept a Jewish state in the House of Islam, and the world accepts that Jews have rights. Until then, Israel will protect its own, and anti-Semites will hate and lie about it.
