[Update at 4:13 p.m.] Showbiz Tonight's A.J. Hammer reports on the life of John Forsyth.
[Posted at 2:50 p.m.] Actor John Forsythe has died after a year-long struggle with cancer, his publicist confirmed in a statement.
"He was 92 years old and, thankfully, he died as he lived his life... with dignity and grace," his family said in the statement.
Forsythe is known as the voice of "Charlie" in the original television series "Charlie's Angels" and the two feature films, "Charlie's Angels" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." Forsythe also portrayed Blake Carrington in "Dynasty."

Wow, what a loss.
Loved Charlie's Angels as a kid, loved Dynasty in High school. He'll be missed.
What a remarkable voice! Sounded so dignified.
I remember as a very young girl sneaking peeks of Dynasty (way past my bed time) and thinking oh how glamorous. My he rest with the angels.
What a voice. Never saw him... only heard him as "Charlie".
Great voice.
History does not begin in 1980 or even 1977. To eulogize John Forsythe without first mentioning his pioneering role as TV's "bachelor father" in the 1950s show of that name is to eject millions of baby boomers from your writing who first learned about fatherhood from John Forsythe. Had Forsythe not first played in "Bachelor", his characters in both "Dynasty" and "Charlie" would have appeared seamy. Forsythe proved he was a regular guy first, open to temptation in later years as so many of us are. Thanks for your artistry, Mr. Forsythe, and for showing us the best and worst of ourselves without flinching, pandering, or stereotyping.
Rest in peace Mr. John Forsythe. I enjoyed your voice on Charlies Angels. may your family be blessed!
Hi to all of Johns co-stars and star acquaintences.
Television gives tribute to people whom the natural public would not ever give the same regard to if they were just sidewalk acquaintences. I guess you have to start giving enough successive applause until hollywood begins to hear clapping.
John had a believable dramatic presence which rang out with his voice. The roles that found him placed him before the public eye.
He among others who had similar role modeling impact will be missed for their impact socially and hopefully.
may you rest in peace john.thank you for all your wonderful entertainment, you was a true and fine actor.
god bless you.
ian.
Mr. Forsythe has made my weeks very special when I was a little girl – about eight trough his voice in "Charlie´s Angels", which I never, ever didn´t see, eventhough, at that time, as now, lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Thanks for the fun!
