2nd police officer suspended in videotaped beating

[Updated at 7:56 p.m.] Watch the news conference from Wednesday evening.

[Posted at 6:29 p.m.] A second Prince George's County, Maryland, police officer has been suspended in the case of a University of Maryland student whose beating by officers wielding nightsticks was caught on video, officials announced Wednesday.

The Prince George's County Police Department had announced the suspension of one officer on Tuesday, and more suspensions are expected soon, according to police Lt. Andy Ellis.

Ellis said that all the officers involved in the beating incident have been identified and that at least two more are expected to be suspended. The department has not released the names of those suspended, but will once all the suspensions are made, Ellis said.

In addition to investigations by the police department and the Maryland Attorney General's office, the FBI is investigating the beating incident, Ellis said.

Due process first and when found guilty every police officer involved in the cover-up should be sent to prison. The officers which head the department should be fired. Plus all involved with this crime should be sued for every dime they have or will ever have. Lets see how these gangsters and thugs hold up in prison without their clubs and guns.
Having expressed my anger we must remember not all police are bad. There should be double the punishment for cops involved in crime. That way when they do get a bad apple and proecute them the citizens will trust the system.

There a lot of cop at the scene and no one have enough guts to speak up for the the kids. I feel like they should suspend all the cops at the scene and put the two cop attacking those kid in jail immediately. This situation show that all cops protect each other eventhough if they all have to lies to get what they want. If this was not caught on tape not only those two cops get away with it and maybe the two kids may end up in jail. this is the police system for you.

There were so many cops becuase University of Maryland was celebrating a basketball win. Supposedly the victim was accused of assaulting a mounted police officer prior to this incident, Police have a lot to deal with on a daily basis, what if he did assult the cops or try to,what if he was shouting out threats and we clearing cannot tell whether or not this student had a weapon on him or not. PG county may not have the best rep in the world backing the police but the citizens are not innocent either, The crime and homicide rate is through the roof. I feel that obviously there is more to this video then what we see because there is no possible way that ALL those law enforcement officers just turned the other cheek.

Shame, shame on us. We lie too much in our reports, others sometimes tried to explain or just argued with us for limited words, we gave them "Disorderly Conduct" and arrested them put them into jail.
I wish this case goes on bigger and wake more of us the police who should protect people and wins the public respect but now we are loser loser.

This is yet another example of the Nazi mindset of the police in the United States in post 9-11 America. These cops are being brainwashed to the point of becoming punishment dispensing robots who appear to take joy in beating the living tar out of anyone whom they think they can get away with beating up.

No wonder why so many people run from the police nowadays, afraid of being tazed or beaten to a pulp by a mob of crazed maniacs with a badges.

Moreover, if one goes to a search engine and types in police brutality, they will be startled to find more websites than they could read in a month, which document these color of law crimes.

The United States of America has become a police state where you are now guilty until proven innocent. The nationwide crime of organized stalking is proof of this.

Such crimes are taking place on a daily basis, while the Constitutional right to due process of law disintegrates before our very eyes.

The American people are in for hellish nightmare if they don't stand up for their inherent rights as citizens of this country and hold these vigilante cops and our legislators accountable for savage crimes.

When are people in this country going to wake up & realize: the economic problems we have stem from the psychotic corporate bankers & industrial giants ability to entice the Supreme Court to support the notion that "corporations can and should be considered a "person"." This in conjunction with or as a direct result of the 14th Amendment causes all legal "citizens" of this country to be considered "chattel state property", and thus be treated as such (as in: you don't move when commanded, you become "subjected to the ruler"; get it?).
Now I doubt the now "invisible empire" members of today are fully aware of the connection (or maybe they are), but this caused all "colors" (or "races") to be "subject" to this status, and thus, doomed all (hatemongering-rapist murders included) to this state of "domestic warfare", not just the "prime-targeted" indigenous slaves.

But thus is the nature of the hegemonious, parasitic, male-egotistically driven, colonial capitalist system; Be Slave or Die Tryin.
And until the "collective conciousness" of the people of this country raises to this level of understanding, as the "person" above mentioned, this condition will get worse before it gets better, no matter how loud you yell from the highest mountain-top: "I am not a slave!!!"

Thank God for cameras. The days of cops and their dirty little lies are over. No one said how the student is doing. Is he ok? I hope the family sues for every penny they can get. The police chief is the first one that should go and then the cops who prey on innocent citizens. They are the worst kind of criminals, wearing their cop uniforms and thinking they are mini gods. They are nothing but thugs!
