[Updated at 10:04 a.m.] Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that the Obama administration intends to close the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, detention facility as soon as it can, but he declined to specify when that would happen.
Holder is testifying in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He also said that New York City remained an option for holding the terrorism trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, but a final decision was weeks away.
[Posted at 10:02 a.m.] Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday that the government would use both civilian courts and military commissions for terrorism cases.

Be careful what you wish for.
These terrorists commited crimes againist us so they should be put on trial here. Why have a seperate holding place for them?
what a bunch of dumbasses..
next, there probably going to release the terrorist.
Careful? That word does not exist in this administration. It knows NOTHING about terrorism prevention. Congratulations, America, your "saviour" is doing one heck of a job.
Lets get real here. Bush knew many of the Guantanamo detainees were innocently bought to make the "War on Terror" an excuse to invade Iraq. We in the USA have a Rule of Law that works in civil courts each day. Military tibunals are a joke that convicts without evidence and uses redacted (blacked out) sentences. What can we fear in the American court system? Indefinite detention may come to bite us in the backside when it is used on American citizens. Now there is an order to kill an American citizen on sight......without due-process. (And he may need to be punished but he is American)) Be careful what you push for. What's the old saying...First they came for the....., then they came for .....? Don't be used this way.
Please, stop complaining about everything. If you don't like how our country is doing then in the next election, change it. This is what democracy is all about. If you don't like the people in government, other than federal judges, then vote and try to change it.
We have truly become a NATION of WHINERS!
Adding to my above paragraph....Closing Guantanamo isn't the issue. Making sure justice is served by bringing detainees to civil trials is. Put them on trial or send them home. Transferring detainees to other prisons just deepens the atrocities of the previous administration and their disreguard of human rights. Unless this situation results in true justice, we are enhancing the hatred from other countries.
