A small-town Georgia police supervisor who acknowledged having made off-color remarks about the woman who accused a football star of raping her has resigned.
Sgt. Jerry Blash's resignation Wednesday came a day before authorities released hundreds of pages of documents related to the alleged rape of a college woman by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Among the documents released was a summary in which Blash acknowledged that some of his off-color comments about the alleged victim might have been overheard.
"When asked about a comment similar to 'this f-- b-- is drunk' or 'this b-- is drunk off her ass accusing BEN of assaulting her," Blash said that he did say something like that to the other Milledgeville police officers and indicated that Roethlisberger's bodyguards may have overheard the comment," the report said.
It added, "Blash indicted (sic) that he was mad because the victim was not being 'straight up' with him and that pissed him off."
Blash resigned Wednesday, Milledgeville Police Chief Woodrow Blue told CNN on Friday. He would not discuss reasons for the resignation.
Blash was photographed posing with Roethlisberger on the night of the alleged rape. He did not answer a telephone call late Friday.
A prosecutor decided earlier this week to not pursue criminal charges against Roethlisberger, saying he could not prove that a crime had been committed.

Hmm... Take that cop to trial then since he's the reason the case got screwed up resulting in a lack of proof that a crime had been committed. Lets blindly forget that this isn't the first time BEN has found himself in a similar situation. Cops like this is why people don't trust cops. At least this POS cop isn't around to do a terrible job at the tax payers expense anymore.
Guess the "alleged victum" who remains unknown is the only one not held to any blame in this. She was underaged and the bars that she drank in that night obviously don't check ages very well and if they did there wouldn't be enough non-college patrons to keep them all open. Was the victum and her lady freinds who evidently all were underaged and wearing nametags soliciting sex are the heroines in this.
They crucified Mike Tyson for alot less.
So the guy who "investigated" was star struck by the NFL player and bigoted toward the apparent victim. The prosecutor, unless he is the same, should throw out the "investigation" file and start over.
If no crime was committed, why is this woman being repeatedly referred to - including in the above news story - as a "victim?"
Man, even OJ can't believe that #7 got away w/ this one. What a dirt bag...I am embarrassed to call myself a Steeler fan and until Ben is gone I will not be able to enjoy watching this team.
The next people to resign as a result of Big Ben's actions should be the two off-duty Pittsburgh officers who were moolighting as Ben's bodyguards that evening. You know, the two officers that allowed the woman to be assaulted and prevented her friends from stopping it.
So one can basically infer from this that the officer's comments may have actually given Roethlisberger's legal representatives enough material to "discredit" the victims claims before anything even went to trial.
this is one of the most disturbing stories ive heard thus far
typical 'good ole boy' uneducated cop. these types of cops give all the good police out there a black eye; this is why so many do not trust or like the police.
it is a shame that some of the most stupid go on to be in the law enforcement. what a wonderful world
Wonder how long before Blash becomes one of Roethlisberegers "bodyguards", if he's not already. Also, why does a big, strong athlete need a bodyguard?
