"South Park" showed the Prophet Mohammed disguised in a bear suit.
The radical Islamic Web site Revolutionmuslim.com is going after the creators of the TV cartoon series "South Park" after an episode last week included an image of the Prophet Mohammed in disguise.
Revolutionmuslim.com, based in New York, was the subject of a CNN investigation last year for its radical rhetoric supporting “jihad” against the West and praising al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Its organizers insist they act within the law and seek to protect Islam.
On Sunday, Revolutionmuslim.com posted an entry that included a warning to South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they risk violent retribution – after the 200th episode last week included a satirical discussion about whether an image of the prophet could be shown. In the end, he is portrayed disguised in a bear suit.
The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com says: “We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them.”
Theo van Gogh was a Dutch filmmaker who was murdered by an Islamic extremist in 2004 after making a short documentary on violence against women in some Islamic societies. The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com features a graphic photograph of Van Gogh with his throat cut and a dagger in his chest.
The entry on Revolutionmuslim.com goes on to advise readers:
“You can contact them [the makers of South Park], or pay Comedy Central or their own company a visit at these addresses …” before listing Comedy Central’s New York address, and the Los Angeles, California, address of Parker and Sloane’s production company.
Contacted by CNN, the author of the post, Abu Talhah al Amrikee, said that providing the addresses was not intended as a threat to the creators of South Park but to give people the opportunity to protest.
Over still photographs of Parker, Stone, van Gogh and others, the Web site runs audio of a sermon by the radical U.S.-born preacher Anwar al-Awlaki, who is now in hiding in Yemen. The sermon, recorded some time ago, talks about assassinating those who have “defamed” the Prophet Mohammed – citing one religious authority as saying “Harming Allah and his messenger is a reason to encourage Muslims to kill whoever does that.” U.S. officials say al-Awlaki is on a list of al Qaeda leaders targeted for capture or assassination.
The clip ends with a warning on a graphic directed at Parker and Stone, saying “The Dust Will Never Settle Down.”
Al Amrikee said the purpose of including the al-Awlaki sermon in his posting was to remind Muslims that insulting the prophet is a severe offense for which the punishment in Islam is death. He said RevolutionMuslim may hold protests about the show.
Calls to Comedy Central were not returned.
Like the Australian President said, you had the free right to come to this country, you also have the right to leave it. Why should we let these idiots try to change our society cause their religious views are totally waked out, go back to the desert...
But seriously, why are people who openly support Osama Bin Laden's attacks on America and making terroristic threats against Americans allowed to be roaming the streets.
It seems the makers of this website are new to "freedom of speech" which does NOT include inciting people to violence. Perhaps they should post their own address so as to sort out any confusion as to what they are saying.
It is the right of every religious group to defend their religious figures, just because South Park makes fun of every group, and no one says anything that just shows the amount of respect other religious groups have for their leaders. If a group chooses to defend their beliefs they have the right to do so without ridicule.
I applaud Trey & Parker for this episode – it showed us all of how much we are loosing our freedom of speech if we do not stand up to these radicals and get pushed into the belief that you can make fun of everyone, except of Mohamed
Do you not see what Matt and Trey are saying? They depicted Mohammed in a BEAR costume but what they really said is that Mohammed is BARE as in story The Emperor's New Clothes. And in saying Mohammed is bare they mean he is bare of ideas, that Islam is bare of ideas, and that Islam is therefore a hollow and false religion.
It is a crime against our founding fathers and an insult to our society that we allow people like "Abu Talhah al Amrikee" to threaten our citizens and abuse our constitution.
Matt and Trey Bravo!! The individual and the organization should get a house call by Law enforcement officer. Let these Muslim mullas issuing death threats/FATWA sitting on American soil should be brought to justice. Like Christians, Hindus did not say a word for poking fun at their god Shree Ganesh. Let the previous Fatwa issued by Ayothola Khomeni of Iran against Salman Rushdi of U.K. be the last one.
Muhammad and its followers spread and retained Islam so far with brute force. Islam is a religion of hate and death. It has no place in free democratic societies of the World.
I loved the 200th episode...and freaks making threats like these are the exact reason why Trey and Matt did what they did. The second this scum of the earth group released their ridiculous statement then South Park's point was made.
It's also ironic how this is a group based in the United States...a country whose ideals they hate so much yet benefit from with their freedom of speech....Ironic isn't it. I wonder how well they'd survive if they went to any other country and expressed their desire for the downfall of the government.
Keep doing your thing South Park!!! I wish more people had the testicular fortitude that Trey and Matt have.
We all need to post pictures of Muhammad on our Facebook pages, blogs, and personal web sites.
Apparently, these muslims do not understand that in our culture the penalty for threatening a celebrity is to be condemned to carry the stench of a menstruating camel in one's beard for all of eternity.
1. I am afraid to comment for fear of my life.
2. This clown who made the threat needs to be jailed before those Hutatree yokels.
3. Where is the liberal outrage against religious bigotry or is that just for Christians.
Nobody is allowed to upset the Muslims. Every time I get on a plane I thank the Muslims for all the time I have to waste and the Muslim Tax we all pay for living in a world with this barbarians. For the priveledge of living a world with Muslims we all pay dearly.
