Actor turned White House aide mugged at gunpoint

White House aide Kal Penn, the once and future actor, was robbed at gunpoint in Washington early Tuesday morning, according to two officials familiar with the matter.

Penn had his wallet and cell phone stolen, but officials stressed that he was not seriously injured in the incident that was initially reported by TMZ.com.

"He's fine," said one of the officials, who added that Penn reported for work at the White House. He works in the Office of Public Liaison and focuses on President Obama's outreach to the Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities.

It is ironic that our national capitol is full of thieves and backstabbers , If you dont count the congress and senate, it still has way to many criminals. When they excluded it from being an ordinary state and made it a "protected district", they made a perfect safe-harbor for others of their ilk.

I think it is illegal to carry a weapon in D.C. Good thing we have politicians to thank for that. We all know that criminals follow the law. Keeps us honest people from protecting our selves. Have to agree with the first comment also. Someone asked me today if I believe in Demons. I said yes, they are mostly lawyers, priests and politicians. Did make me laugh because of the irony.

If this actor pulled a gun on this guy...we could have 2 people dead....rather than just one getting his worthless wallet and phone stolen.

Why isnt a white house aid who is nationally famous as an actor , afforded more protection? You would think this guy would stick out like a purple cow in a field of rice and yet no one thought to provide security for someone Obama hand picked??????????
I bet that cell phone has a TON of white house s hit on it. From special contacts home numbers to GPS tagged pictures of peoples rl homes.....
