Iranian plane flies near U.S. carrier
An Iranian navy plane that approached a U.S. aircraft carrier last week was flying as low as 300 feet as it neared the USS Eisenhower, U.S. military officials said Wednesday.
The incident, first reported by CNN on Tuesday, came as Iran was beginning a series of military exercises last week meant to show off their military prowess.
The Eisenhower was on duty in the Gulf of Oman in the northern Arabian Sea, in support of the Afghanistan war efforts, when the Iranian maritime patrol aircraft flew within 1,000 yards of the vessel, according to military officials.
While the encounter was not threatening, it was unusual. U.S. navy ships have regularly encountered Iranian aircraft in the Persian Gulf in recent years, but this encounter took place in the Gulf of Oman, in an area where Iranian jets are seen much less frequently, several Navy officials said.
The officials declined to be identified, citing the extremely sensitive nature of any U.S. military interaction with Iranian forces.

Don't be stupid. Just look at the number of drone strikes he has authorized - far many more than President Bush, though I in no way mean that as a criticism of the former President. Also, remember when he authorized the Navy to take out the pirates who kidnapped a ship's captain? He has way upped our forces in Afghanistan. If he's "afraid to upset the Muslims," he sure as h*ll isn't SHOWING it.
President Obama's team has taken out more Al Queda and Taliban than the previous incompetents who ruled the military.
No big deal.......just one more easy target if things ever get hot over there.

This is a routine fly by Iranians and its been done for years. Don't believe me, ask someone who has been there. The question is: why this is suddenly a national news? This is just another propaganda by warmongers using the media to prepare public to send their children to die for Israel. Wake up!
This seems to be a tactic that the Iranians would use; an USA aircraft carrier no doubt should be in area with the USS Eisenhower. I would think that the USS Eisenhower would be able to shot down such a plane if the need arise.
The Eisenhower is an aircraft carrier. I'm sure there's quite a few other ships in the area to provide support for the carrier.

I would hate for the Iranian people to get hurt. I would like to see the Iranian people revolt their current government and Im sure our government would help them establish a democracy. Like any other nation, they deserve a chance at freedom from their tyrannical government.

This isn't news. It happens all the time. I've seen it happen quite a few times in my time in the Navy. I've got great pictures of a Russian Bear bomber overflying the USS Kitty Hawk. Granted, it had a Hornet on each wing, but still awesome.
