The fierce debate over a new Arizona immigration law has spread to America's pastime as protesters plan to demonstrate against the city's baseball team on Thursday.
The protest will occur outside Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois, where the Arizona Diamondbacks will start a four-game series against the Chicago Cubs.
"America's favorite pastime will be hit with a reality check," the protest's organizers wrote on a Facebook page set up to publicize their rally. "Bring signs and banners to the protest."
By early Thursday morning, the Facebook group had more than 800 members.
The new Arizona law requires police to check whether a person is in the United States legally if there is a reason to suspect he or she isn't.
Critics say the law could foster racial profiling.
Along with the protest at Wrigley Field, the group said it is planning a protest march for May 1.

I think this protest is an amazing idea! This should be the first big move for the Arizona police, we don't even have to go looking for the illegal aliens, they'll all be in one spot!

I know of at least three different families that have come here utilizing the correct way to come and share this land and have become national citizens. This shows how ignorant and uneffective people are. Protesting against a baseball team because of some law passed they don't agree with. Why not just get together and go protest in front of that wall over there? Who organised this brainstorm. Also go and interupt entertainment that your fellow citizens paid to go see. That will punish the lawmakers real well. Are these people affiliated with the Tea baggers or something?
What is the problem with enforcing the laws.
My family came here legally, learned the language, and played by the rules. That was in 1860.
