Congressman arrested at immigration rally

Police arrested Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez at an immigration rally outside the White House on Saturday.
Gutierrez, a Democrat, was among a group of protesters arrested by police in front of the White House.
The protesters wore T-shirts that read, "ARREST ME NOT MY FAMILY" and "ARREST ME NOT MY FRIENDS."

I'd like to know how many of you people actually carry your passports and birth certificates around with you everywhere you go. Not just when you need to get a job. But everywhere. To school, to every day work, to go out for dinner, to buy groceries... Get the people here illegally out, I have no problems with that. But I'm not going to spend days in a cell because I was arrested for being "suspicious of being here illegally" just to have to PROVE I am a native born citizen.

What makes a person suspicious? The way they speak? Their clothing? The way they walk? Their hair? Their eyes? Their skin color?

How about the judges and courts go the demonstrations and check for illegal status there. It would be a easy way to round up a lot of the illegals. I have to show proof of citzenship now days for work. This should be mandatory and doublechecked by employers. Also if public services were cut off from them also. No college monies for illegals or healthcare either. You want to be here, do it legally the way our ancestors did thru Ellis Island. NO MORE American citzenship for anchor babies unless mommy and daddy are here legally.

Thank you Arizona!!I am 61 and sick of what is going on in my country. Please kick out 20 million or more ILLEGALS out of my country and anyone who wants to go with them .They have NO rights here, legal or otherwise. Not to use our courts against us and our laws. I don't want them to get any of the services, S.S., medical, food stamps, nothing. If our representatives won't do their jobs, and get rid of these illegals, get rid of the representatives and vote in people who will.Listen up Oregon lawmakers, because Oregonians want the same thing the people of Arizona want. We want the invasion from a foreign country to STOP!!!

It is sad that this is what it takes to get illegal imagrants to stop breaking the law. They are after all here ILLEGALLY! Ariz.has the right idea. The illegals are leaving that state. So the rest of the states need to fall in line and pass the same law. Leave them no place to go but back where they came from. Not just those from Mexico, but all illegals. They don't have the right to protest here. They are not citizens and thus have no right. Yes everyone here has family back however far that immagrated here. Even Native Americas came here following their food. My family came here from Ireland, France and Germany. In each case they busted their butts to LEGALLY come here. So IMO all the illegal aliens can pack up and get out. If they can't come back legally, oh well. That is the life they where born too.

#281. WHEN YOU GO TO ANY COUNTRY, YOU MUST CARY YOUR PAPERS OR PASSPORT AT ALL TIMES. WHY MUST IT BE ANY DIFFERENT IN THIS COUNTRY? BECAUSE THERE ARE ILLEGALS HERE WHO SHOULDN'T BE.

One last thing, those that are illegal with SSN #, they got those illegally also. That is called an identity thief. So it doesn't matter if they are paying taxes, they are still doing everything against the laws of this country. If you want more, go to your own country and change it to the better. It is called a backbone, and shedding blood for your rights in your country.

When the Arizona lawmaking body can fully understand that THE FOURTH AMENDMENT to the U.S. Constitution takes precedence over their SB1070, then perhaps they will start to understand that they need to treat everyone fairly, legal or illegal and Repeal their law, as it is now written in contrast with and in obvious opposition to the 4th Amendment. And by the way, who told them the INS was no longer in business? They are. And immigration matters and illegal immigrants is under THEIR jurisdiction for their information so don't be giving that responsibility to the local law enforcement agencies that are already overworked and charged with protecting local citizen matters. By the way, The Fourth Amendment Leaves No One Out, no, not even because they are Hispanic.

Fourth Amendment (Bill of Rights) to the U.S. Constitution

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, paper, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I don't think many of us have a problem when they are here LEGALLY. When they come here illegally they are not supposed to be working. Well we know what happens. They assume someone's idenity, until they get caught. And at the same time, claim so many exemptions, that they aren't having any taxes taken out. If they don't want to settle for the lower paying jobs, then they are stealing everything that isn't nailed down. And we want these illegals here WHY? And even if they come here legally, do we want a bunch of people who have little to no education so our social services are sucked dry? I think not... These people have done NOTHING for the USA, so as far as I'm concerned GO HOME. I for one do not welcome them.

    Question:

Where were the Feds when Arizona was hemorraging with thousands of illegals coming into their State. ? Were they there upholding "The Fourth Amendment (Bill of Rights) while the citizens of Arizona were being kidnapped, raped and plundered? Arizona asked for help from the Feds repeatedly. They are the second kidnap capital in the United States. No one came to their support. It fell on deaf ears.

No one is impervious to the laws of the United States. But there has to be boundaries put in place to protect the citizens of all the States.

I show my ID everytime I walk into a market, the airport, if I have a traffic violation and my bank. I'm not offended. End of story. Get over it. Show your ID and be on your way.

    L. Glover, of post #291. So, you, for one, do not welcome them huh? Well, do you welcome the services they provide to help put food on your table, build and paint your houses, buildings, take care of your kids, pick your fruits and vegetables, do your laundry etc.?

And you say they have little to no education and do you know why? Because they are so busy ~working~ for you and other Americans providing essential services you need that they don't have the time to go to school, L. Glover, that's why!

Let's see what would happen if there were no Hispanics to do those chores anymore, say for just a week, and YOU, L., for one, had to do them or not have those services at all anymore. Bet you'd be crying to have them back in a heartbeat wouldn't you? Or would you go to find another minority to take over because you didn't want to do that kind of work yourself, work few Non-Hispanic people like to do?

This is a moot point; soon, our Hispanic brothers and sisters and other immigrants will be the majority. 🙂 At which time, you too many ask, "Where are our civil freedoms? Our rights?" and we may then pursue a civil discourse justified by our better natures, and unblemished by gun-toting supremacist freakshows with no justification but their own hollow echoes reverberating agreement back and forth in an ever-decreasing arc.
