Obama extends sanctions against Syria

President Barack Obama has decided to extend sanctions on Syria, sending a letter to Congress Monday saying the yrians' continued support for terrorist organizations posed "a continuing unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy and economy of the United States."

The president said Syria had "made some progress in suppressing foreign fighter networks infiltrating suicide bombers into Iraq," but its "actions and policies" regarding terror networks made it necessary to keep the sanctions in place.

The economic sanctions, first enacted in 2003, bar exports to Syria and ban Syrian commercial aircraft from landing in the United States. "As we have communicated to the Syrian government directly, Syrian actions will determine whether this national emergency is renewed or terminated in the future," Obama's letter said.

Some of you on this board are either unbelievably naive or are just in denial!
It's Syria that allows all those weapons, ammo, mortars & rockets to be imported from Iran, shipped through Syria & delivered to the terrorist organaization Hazbolah in Lebonon.
It was Syria that secretly imported the materials & those w the know how to build a secret nuclear bomb making site in the Syrain desert ...until Mossad found out about it & the Israeli Air Force bombed it out of existence!
It's Syrai that constantly been the host & protector of the founders & leaders of Hamas.. Those a history of the blood of innocents on their hands ..& who are on Israel's / Mossad's "Most Wanted" list!

Can ANY of you imagine the upheaval & consequences throughout the region of a nuclear armed Syria ? How long would it be before one of those nuclear bombs finds itself in Tel Aviv or New York or London or Cairo ???

Zionism is European Fascism pure and simple. This Euro-Supremist ideology
is responsible for atleast a dozen villages being the sites of
mini-genocides of men, women and children. Fron 1900 thru 2008.
Joe Sacco recounts how Jenin was the site of mass murder in a unique media piece that
has us ask how are these Arab areas the sites of mass murder over and over again?
Jenin, Gaza, Sabra, Shantilla, ALso these same areas are laden with cluster bombs,
Attacked with white phosphorus. This is Nazi supremist Israelis treating Arabs like
the jews in the ghettoes of poland. its Freudian transference of victimization.
Look how during holocust remembrance the guilt is being pointed to Iran as if
Iran is Nazi Germany? The countries against Iran ironically did nothing to stop
Facism and actually supported Fascism. Their support for Israel is once again a
vote for upholding European supremacy and neo imperial colonial policies.

So now we can hope that Hamas and the PLO will disrm and stop the suicide attacks? Given the lore of these posts from the Arabs I seriously doubt this will happen. These jokers don't want peace. I say increase the sanctions.

Syria provides safe haven and material support for terrorists operating in Iraq, terrorists responsible for the deaths of American soldiers and Iraqis. Seems like a good enough reson for sanctions to me.

Please wake up and use your brains. God put it in our heads for a reason. If any if you out there ever think that our policy in tthe middle east is about spreading democracy, or fighting terrorism, then it is time to face reality. Our biggest allies in Eagypt,Israel, and Saudi Arabia are all under serious human rights violations, yet we continue to embrace them with open arms. We supported Iraq even when knowing they were using biological weapons on civilians. The truth is clear and simple, we support governments that listen to us, and we sanction governments that disobey us.
