New York bridge to reopen after U-Haul scare

New York authorities have determined that a moving truck abandoned on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, formerly known as Triborough Bridge, did not pose a threat.

Police closed off the bridge for about two hours on both directions after being made aware of the incident shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The department's bomb squad was called to the scene after a toll booth operator who approached the U-Haul truck smelled a strong odor of gasoline, said Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne.

The truck, with Arizona license plates, was headed to Manhattan from the Bronx when the driver abandoned it about 1,000 feet from a toll booth - and ran off, witnesses told police.

The bridge earned its former name - Triborough - because it connects three of New York's five boroughs: Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx.

But all black people do take drugs – it can be a stereotype and be true. Like Mexicans being lazy and towel heads smelling like death warmed over.

Obama and his group are hoping it is a white male with a connection to the "Tea Party" group. They are all sitting around right now with their collective fingers crossed.

Sloppy reporting about the licence plates. All U-Haul trucks have Arizona plates. From Wikipedia:

"All trucks owned by the U-Haul corporation (including those assigned and decaled for use in Canada) display apportioned Arizona license plates that do not expire. Newer trailers in the U-Haul fleet have apportioned plates, registered in a variety of states. In the Alaska and Hawaii markets, U-Haul registers equipment locally because those states do not have apportioned vehicle registration systems."

That U-Haul office is probably under siege now.

Last week it was a truck stuck on the FDR Drive, under the Mayor's Mansion overpass.

As I said before, traffic will really be a nightmare this morning on the Bruckner and Sheridan Expwys.
