Police: 6 killed in shooting outside Juarez kindergarten

The driver of the van lost control and ended up crashing the vehicle into the kindergarten building.

Six people were shot and killed Friday morning outside a kindergarten in the Valley of Juarez in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, the municipal police department told CNN Friday.

Witnesses said the victims were driving in a cream-colored Ford van when they were attacked. The driver of the van lost control and ended up crashing the vehicle into the kindergarten building, said municipal police spokesman Jacinto Seguro.

Two others were injured in the shooting and crash, but their conditions were not available, Seguro said. The injured were identified as Enrique Torres, 33, and Francisco Manuel Torres, 26.

"The situation is becoming quite ugly here," Seguro said.

The killings came one week after U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Carlos Pascual met with high-ranking security officials in Juarez to discuss the escalating violence in the city, which sits directly across the Rio Grande from El Paso, Texas.

Sources in Juarez close to CNN say the increasing violence over the past month is attributed to the approach of local elections to be held on July 4.

At least 880 people have been killed in drug-fueled violence in Juarez this year, officials say.

  1. victim of democrat hypocrisy

Will it be illegal for residents of El Paso to fly the American flag on July 4, the same day Juarez is having an election? We wouldn't want to provoke any pro-Mexican racists, now, would we?

And Los Angeles has the gall to boycott Arizona over their anti-illegal immigration law. Can you blame them for passing such a law. Do we really want this element here in our own backyard? The L.A. City Councel are filled with a bunch of idiots who are more concerned with kissing the asses of all these Mexicans than making it safe for AMERICANS!!!! I'm so glad I pay my taxes and continue to contribute to THIS country and state so all of the Mexicans here in L.A. can feel they have the support of the city councel. Because after all they've made such great contributions just like in Juarez.

Understatement of the year: "The situation is becoming quite ugly here."

Where has this person been?! Its already been ugly in Mexico for some time. Where its becoming ugly is where it is spilling over into the US (ie, southern AZ).

    Sure!
    blablabla! Arizona
    blablabla! Poor El Paso, Tx

But no one acknowledges that this is all cause in mayor part by all the American drug addicts and that your drug has to cross by the Juarez boarder.
But continue to find stupid excuses and continue to patronize Hollywood, Socialites and Gold medal winners for consuming drugs.

And in 10 years lets see how the cards have changed.

    LOL @Happy Canadian!

"Enjoy your guns, racism, bigotry, immorality and general hatred"

If you think Canada is free of any of the above–you are sadly deluding yourself.

Wow, a lot of these comments are really sad. People are being murdured in Mexico, and all we can think about is immigration. Proves that racism is still very alive and well. These cowards love to say things on the internet because they know they would get their azz kicked if they made them publicly.

Hey "big d" or should i say small d**....the problem was not them wearing the american flag, this is a great country and we should all wear it proudly, the problem is how they were using it, they are teenagers and dont think before they act they knew it was going to cause a problem they did not do it so anything positive would come out of it, they were trying to provoke this mostly hispanic school. Water is not bad, but if I flaunt water in your face when your dying of thirst and dont give you any, wouldnt you be upset?
