'Reason to believe' Pakistani Taliban plotting to strike U.S.

U.S. intelligence has strong reason to believe that the Pakistani Taliban is actively plotting to hit interests in the U.S. and American targets overseas, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

The concerns about the group that authorities say directed the Times Square bombing plot are coming from multiple streams of information, including from Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bombing suspect, the official said.

The official told CNN that CIA Director Leon Panetta and National Security Adviser Jim Jones relayed the new terror threat information to Pakistan's government on their trip there earlier this week.

The threat information was not down to the level of specific cities, the official said.

I was there on 9/11 at the WTC. My only relief was the thought that attack was not with an A-bomb. Now in Pakistan, a nuclear armed nation, their Taliban seeks to attack us – NYC being highest on their hit-list. The weapon of choice witll be the bomb.
What steps is the Obama administration taking to prevent this attack and what medical and disaster programs are in place to save as many as possible (e.g. iodine stockpiles) when they are successful?

Pakistani Taliban threatens U.S.? The Pakistani taliban with their brothers in arms al Qaeda wish only to destabilize Pakistan so they can aquire nuclear weapons that Pakistan posesses. The United States is exerting enormous pressure on these terrorist by using predator drones. Its called fighting terror with terror, these terrorist never know when or where we will strike and they don't like it one bit. Now they threaten us with terror strikes, the best thing we can do is step it up a notch or two in Pakistan terrorists don't like their relatives dying anymore or less than anyone else.

Afghanistan???? I am confused. Isn't I read correctly on CNN that PAKISTAN TALIBAN is planning attacks. I understand that Afghanistan doesn't have millitary power but How come these bad guys are in Pakistan which certainly has a big military power including nukes. Afghanistan might be good to hide but for survival and other supplies they have to stay in equipped country like Pakistan. Shouldn't we move litterbit more east. Iraq-–> Afghanistan-–>Pakistan (Dead End)

Are you kidding me? 9/11 truthers STILL exist?? Hahah. Stop watching Zeitgeist and Loose Change you morons. Radical muslims want to kill us, whats so f!cking unbelievable about that? Haaha. Instead of that way more sane explanation, you instead believe a government that knew it would not STAY the government plotted to attack its own country to benefit the government that it would not be anymore in a few years......? Im going to wager that every single 9/11 conspiracy waste of seminal fluid on here has never studied geopolitics in their life. Hahah. Idiots.

Jim "Are you kidding me? 9/11 truthers STILL exist??"

There are a lot of people who are mentally ill or so full of hate they want to believe this country attacked itself on 9/11. Facts are immaterial to those morons.

Is there anyone out there who thinks the Taliban care whether you are a Republican or Democrat. If so, please inform the rest of us so if the Taliban ask which party we belong to we can answer correctly before they blow our heads off.

why the us just does not attack and destroy that terrorist nation is beyond me. instead the pakis are supplied with weapons and money. It does not require a genius to predict that Pakistan will one day turn its guns on the US , just like Iraq and afghanistan did after they depended on the US to survive for years.
