'Reason to believe' Pakistani Taliban plotting to strike U.S.

U.S. intelligence has strong reason to believe that the Pakistani Taliban is actively plotting to hit interests in the U.S. and American targets overseas, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

The concerns about the group that authorities say directed the Times Square bombing plot are coming from multiple streams of information, including from Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bombing suspect, the official said.

The official told CNN that CIA Director Leon Panetta and National Security Adviser Jim Jones relayed the new terror threat information to Pakistan's government on their trip there earlier this week.

The threat information was not down to the level of specific cities, the official said.

It is true Israel is behaving badly toward Palestine to the extent of a Palestinian understanding and indeed toward the U.S.'s current political agenda. To say something is stupid and fake when we don't really understand the context is a little biased. One thing we do know about the Taliban is their threats are not idle. Therefore, regardless of a lack of context, CNN was certainly right to post this. The only difference with Israel from the rest of the Arab states is which prophet one believes in and how hardline one believes in it. It's all centuries old and no one knows really what truly happened. In fact, if you hadn't read the Koran or the Old/New Testament, none of us would be having this discussion.

wow that's a pretty stupid comment, quite the conspiracy considering all the email and chats, long distance flights, leaving his wife and kids in a house that he let foreclose i guess nadal hassan was just an apparition that 128 people witnessed simultaneously and it was all a plot to hurt Muslim credibility.. you know who hurts Muslim credibility the Muslims and how you ask well the last time a check a cartoon in the christian and Jewish worlds (I'm atheist by the way) no one was killed no embassy's burned and no fatwas issued I believe your religion needs to start apologizing for it's actions and grow up like the rest of these silly religions have "tried" to do...

The difference between between Palestinians and Isralies is if the Palestinians put down their weapons, there would be peace. If the Isralies laid down their weapons, there would be mass killings. Check out the kids show on Palestinian TV, watch the small children being dressing in uniforms with suicide belts. When Muslims love their children more than they do their Mullah, there will be peace.

CNN...#$Me! I am at the point that I don't even read the stories anymore..Just the comments. Did they give out coupons for your journalism classes? BTW, I AM beginning to feel like that frog in the boiling water...mmmmjust about done. YIKES. Oh, and Polemarch, you gave me a very much needed laugh this evening. Been reading about the oil spill and wondering why some news outlet doesn't have a 24 FREAKIN' hour rant going on about BP and Cheney and the weenies that we call our government-dems and repubs sippin' tinni's somewhere while the gulf burns.

If these "plots" are of the caliber seen in the previous Times Square attempt, I suppose we should watch out for persons of interest trying to light their asses on fire, look out for overly shaken soda cans tossed into places of business and keep a keen sense of smell for bad BO emanating from strange individuals who decide to change their clothing in the middle of the street..

After Times Square & Liberty Bell today, I can't help but wonder if those are clear warning signs of an U.S. strike. I hope intelligence officials are ahead of the game.

...if they have any oil. Maybe you'll notice that we are not currently in Somalia. They kidnap Westerners & hijack cargo ships on a weekly basis. But they don't have anything we want, so we're not on the ground there. Americans are killed in Mexico fairly regularly by para-military style cartel hit-squads. We don't want to rock that boat, do we? How about this: 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi Arabian. None were Iraqi or Afghan. Not a single one. Why aren't our troops in Saudi Arabia? Oh, yeah. Saudis own major corporate interests here in the US & it would wreck our economy to "level their country."

If you don't believe me then ask yourself "why would Osama bin Laden's mother have attended a birthday party for Barbara Bush if there weren't some sweetheart arrangements between the industrial-military complex and Saudi?"

Hey Nate .. News FLASH .. Check who has the oil contracts in Iraq. It's not the U.S., it's mainly France, Russia, and China. Oil was not the goal in Iraq. It was to take down a regime that attacked it's neighbors and harbored terrorists, not to mention killing many of their own citizens.

if there's intelligence suggesting the us a target, why is obama and pelosi are still sending hard earning american tax dollars to pakistan? there's already evidence of pakistan having nuclear bombs and capability of producing nuclear weapons of mass destruction.

The attack already occurred on 4.20.10 and the United states will suffer a financial destruction. The leak is impossible to fix. It is being overseen by foreigners and the coverup is useless. Think about this for a second. Its another direct hit. God Bless the USA.
