'Reason to believe' Pakistani Taliban plotting to strike U.S.

U.S. intelligence has strong reason to believe that the Pakistani Taliban is actively plotting to hit interests in the U.S. and American targets overseas, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

The concerns about the group that authorities say directed the Times Square bombing plot are coming from multiple streams of information, including from Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bombing suspect, the official said.

The official told CNN that CIA Director Leon Panetta and National Security Adviser Jim Jones relayed the new terror threat information to Pakistan's government on their trip there earlier this week.

The threat information was not down to the level of specific cities, the official said.

The earth has a gaping wound. The only one of its kind on the planet. It is located in the epicenter of the source of 30% of the worlds fish and seafood. BILLIONS of dollars lost. And it will poison the shores and eventually the water starting in the south and moving north and east. Not an alarmist. I AM a visionary. I am sorry but this is what I see. The leak is a gunshot wound to the planet.

Terrorists like to attack targets on a "date" that will make headlines.....and what "date is fast approaching? "Memorial Day".

This post is no surprise, particularly after testing the waters at two bases in Afghanistan. My expectation is they will fine tune their agenda overseas or in Afghanistan first, as it will take time to study how things went wrong in Times Square in NY. This next month I would expect Afghanistan actions to occur, probably starting in a week or so, and in a month overseas. You deal with what you know first and with harder actions later.

This all being said I think this is just a tactician's viewpoint. I don't agree with the Taliban, at the same time I realize there is a sizable populace of people that do or else we still would not be at war and all our troops would be home. We need to get over the fact that people don't agree with us and find a way to stop spending money into a neverending hole. "Shock and Awe" and "Mission Accomplished are losers. The broad scope is that we are dealing with a very young religion which has a hold on a number of people we deem as extremists, typically male, who believe 10,000 virgins await them upon death. If all a man's reading is the Koran as education then that's what we are dealing with. A brick wall. Call it ignorance or call it a way of life, there's no getting around the first thing people read.

If we never were taught it or never read it, it never existed. Books were never mass produced until the Bible. It's easy to see where this is going. If it is so written then is must be true...

president bush let osam bin-laden off the hook for years and redirected the war towards iraq, giving the al-quida terrorist organization the ability to recover from the first attacks after 9/11. the united states is still at war with radical islamic terrorists ( taliban,al-quida,plo,hamas). the nation of iran stormed our embassy, kidnapped, tortured, murdered the people working there, paraded them on the show nightline for almost a year, calling the u.s. the great satan, vowing to destroy the u.s. and israel. enough is enough thes infidels need to be wiped off of the face of the earth before they get their hands on a nuclear bomd, for they will not hesitate to detonate one as soon as they have the tecnology! the free world has waited to long , deplomacy is being used to stall for time! the time is now or it will be to late!! what will be the answer when they detonate a nuclear bomb and kill thousands of people! are we going to say hind sight is twenty twenty! or will our leaders open their eyes and see the writting on the wall and the statements these infidels proclaim and act before a catastrohy falls on the world!!!!!!!!

What ever.......why do people in this nation want to believe in the conspiracy theory? Is it easier to believe we want to hurt ourselves then a group of nuts that want to take us down? Yes there are many bad people here in this nation..but when push comes to shove, this nation as a whole pushes back, hard. I have watched the specials on the conspiracy issues and it does not hold water...Like the claim the Pentagon was hit by a missile...My question to you people is this: there are more then 3000 people dead on the planes and ground if the planes did not crash were are the people?

You know, everyone has an opinion. That is what makes this Nation great. But people tend to forget past events. Just checking, does anyone remember what 9-11 meant? What about D-Day? Pearl Harbor ring any bells? There are many people and cultures that dislike this nation. There are many reasons why they do, some justified and some not. But we are in a different time now. We have a target on our heads and there are groups working hard to hit that target. I know no one likes to be reminded of this but if you are not reminded people tend to get laxed on viligance. It is the govts duty to protect us and the news would be failing their job, which they do a lot, if they don't report a threat. Know this....These people that dislike us, have great patience...they will wait months, years to get the job done...After all 9-11 was not planned in several months, all that destruction took more planning then that. The thing to do is show them no fear..go on with living life to the fullest, that hurts them more then anything....

You are more likely to be killed by your next door neighbor than a terrorist. If you are scared of them, then they have won. If we change our way of life because of their threats, they have won. Enjoy your life and don't live in fear of religious fundamentalists.

Yes, you conspiracy theorists, this is probably all orchestrated. Orchestrated to ensure that we can now invade Pakistan. Then Iran. All a plot for us to take over the Middle East and capture all their oil.

I missed the part where that's a bad thing...
