Nine people were killed Friday night when a suspected U.S. drone struck in Pakistan's North Waziristan near the border with Afghanistan, two local officials said.
The dead consisted of two children, two women and five men, Pakistani intelligence and administrative officials said.
The U.S. military routinely offers no comment on reported drone attacks. However, it is the only country operating in the region known to have the ability to launch missiles from drones, which are controlled remotely.

What amazes me the MOST is that the world's most prominent Muslim leader to this day, do not step forward and renounce the actions of terroriists. That's why this religion is WRONG. Be Me brings up a few good points but is combining facts about history and the current fight in Afghanistan and, in the end, comes off as emotional to the point of hysteria.
I don't believe that Afghan or Pakistan ever report accurately the number of civilians killed. The numbers are rarely independently verified. They intentionally inflate the number of "civilians" and "children" killed. That is an absolute fact...verified by the sacred NYT.
Most importantly, these terrorists use their families as shields. Where is the hysteria and emotion towards them? If we blow up their home / hideout and they chose to keep their families in those homes, why are you not outraged at them? Why not point your unemployment and/or dead-end life troubles and anger at their obvious calculation to kill their own families.
Are you asleep to what is going on? The only reason that we are even in that area of the world is because Osama Bin Laden killed 3000 Americans and is being hidden and supported by these people in Wasiristan. Exactly what should we be doing then?

I am astounded at the short-sightedness of many of the commenters here. For one thing, killing women and children does not 'wipe out future terrorists.' It MAKES terrorists. If your mother or children were killed, would you be more or less likely to devote your life to killing people from the country that sent robots into the air above your home to do the killings? Of course we have a right to defend ourselves. But the best defense is to change our policies so that we aren't hated. The US should act like a benign citizen of the planet, not an empire. Not relying on oil from the Middle East (or anywhere – we have the technology to move past oil if it's supported) would be a huge step which would allow us to do so.

As an American Pastor of a Christian church, i have to say it is disappointing to see the misunderstood hate that is being spewed against people against other people here. Yup, it's awful that these terrorists use human shields. There's an easy solution: Don't be a human shield. These men aren't secret agents. It's not like you don't know that the man is a religious extremist. If you get in the car with a man who builds IEDs or commands Al Queda's men, you have no claim to innocence.
