9 killed in suspected U.S. drone strike in Pakistan

Nine people were killed Friday night when a suspected U.S. drone struck in Pakistan's North Waziristan near the border with Afghanistan, two local officials said.

The dead consisted of two children, two women and five men, Pakistani intelligence and administrative officials said.

The U.S. military routinely offers no comment on reported drone attacks. However, it is the only country operating in the region known to have the ability to launch missiles from drones, which are controlled remotely.

- CNN's Samson Desta contributed to this report.

How does anyone know there are not simply psychotic killers in those drone huts in Arizona, getting their rocks off killing innocents? And then laughing when they make mistakes, like it's just a video game?

I refer you to the Milgrim experiment: if told to do so by an authority figure (a superior in the military for instance, or a scientist in a white lab coat), a large percentage of people (the younger ones are more susceptible) will, if sitting at a console, deal out death without considering the victim's actual crimes. It could be something as trivial as getting something wrong – or wearing the wrong clothes in Afghanistan. "Auf wiedersehen."

The muslim community throughout the world supports these terrorists. Thats why no one hears the outcry. It is a war between the west and islam. Money and support comes from legally operated muslim businesses and individuals that believe islam should rule the world. In the end muslims will turn the rest of the world completely against them. If the FREE world eventually has to take them out, it won't be pretty.

I think we are the ones who are going to turn everyone against us...if it was such a virtuous cause why isn't anyone helping us?

      that is 100% not true.

@dave...we are doing it for the right reasons, but the way we are going about doing it is totally wrong. i mean name one paki dude who tried to hurt us until we started bombing their conuntry.
my only point is that we are making more enemies the way we are pursuing our goals.

The only problem here is that it is a poor remote war torn part of pakistan. If some wealthy muslim nation decides to launch drones on america as a gaming practice, its going to be trouble. Can we hope that these guys cannot make a drone long enough??
I hope so, but it scares me.

Tony....FU...I have a 157 IQ and work in Telecommunications. You are the one who is Ignorant. I am just tired of hearing about the Innocent women and children around the Terrorist. They are the mothers of the future terrorist and the future terrorist themselves. I agree that the children have no choice in their future but it is what it is. The only true innocent
people in this is the children at the day care on the forth floor of the World Trade Center.

Muslim extremists can dish it out but can't take it. It is OK for them to bomb markets full of women and children,
and commit other atrocious acts in the name of Allah, but when the US strikes back, they get their turbans in a wad
and cry like little babies about how unfair it is. If you chose to live by the sword, then you choose to die by the sword.

They will say the same thing to you when they's an endless cycle. Any innocents who are killed are more likely to join their side.

This war will never end unless if you (America) can change your foriegn policy. I dont condone what happened on 9 eleven but you should have dealt with in anotherway. Look now you longer free, you alway live in fear. Look us in Africa, we starving but we are free. At night we sleep not worrying about missiles that can strike us. Once more fighting is not a soluton.

Interestingly, most of these countries did not exist before 1918. The problem has always been the "SuperPowers" trying to create and control the region. There will always be distrust in the regions when countries like the US use one country against the other (e.g. Iraq v Iran, Afganistan v CCCP) and then drop them when it's over. 100yrs of control since the creation of these countries, plus hundreds of decades of colonial rule, you reap what you sow.

I've read you perverted book. Muhummed was a child rapist, so don't whine about dead muslim brats.
And he condoned the murder of countless women, so what's your problem?
Islam is about hate and ignorance. May it wallow and die in violence.

The Old testament and the Muslim faith come from the same Middle Eastern place, and they both call for the stoning of women. The New testament was used to justify the Spanish inquisition, dozens of wars and crusades, US slavery, and the 100's of years of burning of older and smart, innocent women as witches, including here in Salem. When it comes to vile, evil and stupid religions, based on mass suspension of disbelief of the obvious, Christianity is right down there with the vilest and most evil.
