Aruba, Peru to swap notes on Joran van der Sloot

Officials hope any details they share involving Joran van der Sloot, middle, and the murder of Stephany Flores, right, will help in the Natalee Holloway investigation.

Aruban and Peruvian authorities have agreed to "help each other" in the murder investigation of Stephany Flores - in which Joran Van der Sloot is the prime suspect, Aruban government spokesman Taco Stein told CNN Tuesday.

Investigators hope the cooperation will lead to new information about the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway in 2005 in Aruba. Van der Sloot is also a suspect in that case.

Following a phone meeting with Peruvian judge Carlos Morales on Tuesday morning, Stein said Peruvian authorities have agreed to allow Aruban investigators into Peru once a formal request has been made. He did not indicate when that more formal request would take place or when Aruban investigators are expected to arrive in Peru, but described the meeting as a "positive start" to information sharing.

On Monday, van der Sloot, who is in the Miguel Castro Castro prison in Lima, was awaiting a psychological evaluation, prison authorities said. He is in a high-security area of the prison where only two of 10 cells are occupied, and he has no contact with inmates in the general prison population. He is under guard 24 hours a day, authorities said.  The only other inmate in the area is alleged Colombian hit man Hugo Trujillo Ospina.

The two have spent some time together in a common area where there is a television set and weights made of out of broomsticks and soda bottles, authorities said.

On Monday, van der Sloot's attorney resigned saying the job was causing too many problems for him.

According to transcripts of his confession, van der Sloot said he elbowed Flores in the face before strangling her and then suffocating her with his own shirt.

Its good to see all the Christians forgiving him for his 'sins', isn't it. Oh you mean the "christian's' aren't forgiving him. Hmmmm those christians are such hypocrites aren't they, now what would Jesus do, hmmmmmmmm let me see. I know how about driving out the demons from him, that's it, orrrr let the hit man get to him with a broom handle? What ever, he is a dead man walking now.

I say free Viagra and blow torches for all the inmates where Van der Sloot is housed. The first inmate to get him to scream out the location of Holloway's remains gets first jump on the Bouncy Castle.

I'm Arubian, and I want to thanks all the good people who is talking good of Aruba. I love my country, and I love my people, and I love the Americans that comes here with vacation, but we the people and the island in itself is not to be blamed for what has happened to Natalee H. Joran is to blame ( he's not arubian) and god I hate this guy. yes I believed that the system under the direct ruling of Holland protected Joran. NOW JORAN, ROT IN HELL.

Joran does not even know where Natalee's remains are. His father got somebody to dispose of Natalee's body and I am sure his father made sure Joran will never know where she is for Joran's own protection.
now we got him to admit that Natalee is not alive.

I don't believe the Peru will allow him to leave Peru, they want him to pay for his crimes. I think Aruba wants to gain access to him in hopes that he will tell them what happened to Natalie. The Peruvian government has no incentive to turn him over to the Aruba or the US. As far as the judicail system in Aruba being corrupt that happens all over the world. Boycotting Aruba will do nothing but hurt the working class people that rely on their jobs in hotels restaurants etc... to make a living. Just to be clear on my next statement, I am in no way defending JVS, but the common factor in both of these cases is that these young women chose to go off with a strange man. Please remind your family friends etc... that just because someone looks nice doesn't mean they are.

I think they should give him the truth serum also, and then AFTER he tells them (truthfully this time) where Natalie is, then let him go to general population.......course they can say they are "waiting for him to go to trial"! He's NOT gonna get off in Peru, but do NOT transfer him to Aruba! Cuz he'll be sitting in some posh little jail cell, and that's BULL!

The reason why he is not with the rest of the population of the jail is because he will get killed in less than an hour, he didnt need to pay anyone there, he didnt need to make a deal either, most of the population in that area are high profile murdereres and peruvian autorities keep ALL them there so they wont get killed.

I'm sure he'll get everything that's coming to him. Peruvian jails ar run by cartels basically and i'm pretty sure they dislike that idea of a foreigner killing a young peruvian girl, her father is also pretty wealthy so i;ll bet he's willing to pay people on the inside to show him a nice stay. Peru is a beautiful country with Cusco, Machu picchu, the nazca lines and much more to offer i've been here a few years now and love it. if anyone is interested try http://www.perumagicaltravel.com , great prices
