USGS: 5.5 magnitude earthquake off Chile's coast

USGS reports 5.5 magnitude earthquake approx 80 miles off Chile and 8.8 miles below the Pacific Ocean.  CNN Chile says no reports of damage so far.

    There was a 5.5 mag. earthquake above the Gulf in Ottawa on June 23, 2010, Now there has been a 5.5 mag. earthquake below Gulf in Chile. What does it mean? I hope these earthquakes don't have a negative impact on the situation going on in the Gulf of Mexico. Is this a global disaster?
