Police: Shooter kills self, two others in workplace attack

Police respond to a workplace shooting in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Monday.

[Updated at 5:44 p.m., July 12] Three people - not six, as police initially said - are dead after Monday's shooting at a business in Albuquerque, according to Police Chief Ray Schultz.

The three dead include the shooter, who turned a gun on himself, according to police.

[Updated at 2:58 p.m., July 12] A former employee shot and killed five people at a business Monday in Albuquerque before turning the gun on herself, New Mexico authorities said.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call at 9:26 a.m. (11:26 a.m. ET) that multiple shots had been fired. When officers entered the building, they found a total of 10 people shot: four were dead, including a man believed to be the shooter, officials said. CNN mistakenly reported earlier that the shooter was believed to be a woman.

Two people have died as a result of gunshot wounds, two are in stable condition, and two others are receiving emergency medical attention, police said.

"We believe this incident to be a domestic-violence workplace situation," Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz said.

One of the victims, Schultz said, is believed to be the wife or girlfriend of the shooter, who was a current employee at Emcore Coporation.

According to CNN affiliate KRQE, police said the shooter had been involved in a past domestic violence incident.

This is really strange. US can welcome Netanyahu who only wants to take from America viz. money, security guarantees, technology, defense equipment, charity etc. but is estranged with Ahmedinejad who wants to give help and expertise to stop this spill that has turned into an environmental disaster threatening global ecology.

May good sense prevail and US accept the help offer from Iran

really don't see no reason why US should not take help from IRAN.
Both BP and US government are buying time in hope that the well would eventually run dry. The whole crap about drilling of relief well is a big lie. By the time it is dug, twice the amount of oil would have leaked into the gulf as compared to today.

US does not have any know-how to stop this spill, so why not let those deal with this mess who really have the capacity and expertise to handle such catastrophe.

Mr. President, if u're listening, pls wake up and ring up the Iranian President. Let their offer to help not go in vain.

Why is no news channel talking about the IRANIAN offer to help stop the oil leak?

Just because they are under sanctions for whatever reasons sponsored by the US goverment does not mean they are barred to even help on matters that are now beyond the capacity of US government or BP.

This is a Global Disaster. Stop being cynical about the Iranians and take their help. They are experts in this subject whether or not the US government agrees. Let political ego not compromise the interest of the ordinary Americans and the humanity at large.

By refusing or rather not even acknowledging the help offered by Iran, the crisis is not going to be resolved anyways. It’s only worsening by the hour.

The help offer by Iran is so strictly censored by the government that not even the so-called free press/media is talking about it.

Once the American citizens have given up their guns they have agreed to submit themselves to give up their freedom and liberty. Disarm the people and the power will force them into bondage.

MG, Chooch, Jomo and any other bleeding heart...take off your rose colored glasses, you're idiots. Most cops are killed by vehicle collisions. Gun control doesn't work, it only keeps guns out of non-criminal hands as proven by; Washington DC, Chicago, and a local convenience store owner who has killed three robbers so far and has lived to go home to his family each time. If you're going to make this a gun control issue lock up those guilty guns and let the poor deluded people behind them go because they were obvious victims as well. That was sarcasm for you aforementioned idiots! Maybe you should send the guns to counseling. As ridiculous as that sounds, it's pretty much as stupid you sound. Do us a favor, shut your mouths, lock yourself in your homes, never come out, and PLEASE don't reproduce!

Albuquerque is NOT the worst city in the country! I am from Albuquerque and while it is small it is a wonderful place that has its problems. If you want a city high up on crim, try living in inner city Baltimore! Try doing some research before you trash one of the oldest cities in the U.S. And maybe, go to ABQ and experience it before forming an uneducated, generalised opinion of a group of people no different from ANY OTHER CITY. if this were the case, I guess Littleton CO. would alsoo be on your "worst cities" list, (THis is judging by your standards, presumably). Grow up and get educated.

Hey Shanks! Albuquerque is not the worst city in America and the entire state does not cater to lowlifes. You should maybe get a proper education and travel more...see the world and know there are worse places then Albuquerque.

If you can provide something more substantial than actual data to support your opinion I would gladly give you more credence.

My extensive world travels have only highlighted this simple fact; Albuquerque is a dangerous place to live with little to no redeeming qualities.

Albuquerque is the worst city in the country. And I will prove that fact to you.

I do live in Albuquerque and have thus met your one qualification to form an opinion.

The following website graphically shows that this city is far more dangerous than the national average.

    http://www.cityrating.com/citycrime.asp?city=Albuquerque&state=NM

Obviously you're opinion of this city is either misguided, or completely unbased on reality. A much more probably explanation is the fact that you've lived here your entire life and therefore have never experienced life in a proper city. A city that does not have shootings at 9 AM. A city where you're chances of becoming the victim of a violent crime are not higher than winning the lottery. A city where the earth is capable of supporting life and vegatation.

My opinion of cities are based on facts. Maybe you could try that as well.
