Alex Rodriguez hits milestone 600th home run

Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player to hit 600 career home runs on Wednesday.

New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has hit his 600th career home run - a two-run blast in the first inning against Toronto Blue Jays.

The homer, which landed on the net on top of monument park in Yankee Stadium, makes A-Rod the youngest and the seventh player to join the 600 club.

The milestone was a long-awaited one - with 46 at-bats between his 599th and 600th home runs.

Rodriguez now joins the elite company of Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa.

Way to go A-Rod and no astrik needed unless you want to add them next to players in the 1930-40's for cocaine use and 1950-70's for Speed ( bennies) use. Yes Drugs have been around the game...all games for along time.

HMMM? Does that mean Ruth was really impressive since he hit so many of his homers while hung over and eating hot dogs?

Steroids are not in the same universe as cocaine or coffee or alcohol as performance enhacers.

During the steroid era there were 10 people every year hitting over 40Hrs, yet the HR KING Hank Aaron never hit 40 HRs in his entire career.

Barry Bonds hit 72 HR at age 38 in the steroids era. Without steroids Jim Thome at 38 hit 23.

    • Question #8

I agree it may be boring for people who have to look up everything on the internet. Step out of the box sometimes and learn a thing or too before just spouting the first thing out of your head. It’s not a race. Analytical thinking is why baseball is called the “Thinking Mans” game!

Congratulations A-Roid, er, A-Rod! You and your team have done so much good for professional baseball. I mean, using illegal substances, coddling super-rich owners, buying championships. Wow, I am so very proud of you and your kind.

Is it any wonder that there are really only two teams to root for in MLB: whoever is playing the Yankees, and whoever is playing the Mets.

A-Rod, the "A" stands for asterisk. His accomplishments will be forever tainted by his use of steroids. I will not forget the dumbfounded look on his face when he was told that the fans would not be so accepting of his career because of this.
