Politics is not for saints. If you believe you have to be holier than jesus and cleaner than a babies bottom to be President, you a living a fantasy. IBM and Ford motors backed Adolf Hitler so what's wrong making a few bucks of charity money? You all still seem to drive the fords and use IBMs

Ford and IBM aren't running to become president of a country that has the potential of putting them in charge of billions of dollars. The money they used was their own not money that was given to save the lives of people. I don't know what the situation is with the missing $400,000.00 but before anyone is endorsed and the "unofficial ambassador" for the youth of Haiti lets make sure he's earned that right let alone giving him the keys to the bank as well.

To become a political leader of not just a nation but a nation that has suffered political wars, famines, a devastating earthquake, hurricanes, and years and years of government inaction, as well as corruption...what makes a "singer" who has not resided in the country in the requisite 5 years that are mandatory to be able to run for the presidency think that he is qualified for this position. Granted he is a shining "star" that has shone a light on the plights that plaque the haitian community as a whole, but who is to say what that light is powered by? How will his presidency help the country and her people? Wyclef should focus his attention more on getting the countries to sign the checks that were promised to the people Haiti and the lack of follow through that has been seen in the last 6 months. We should look at everyone who wants to take on the monumental responsibilities that this position entails and not just that they are famous. Billions upon billions of dollars and more than that... lives are at stake. Look into where $400,000 went.

A lot of y'all are hating because Wycelf is a rapper and supposedly not a politican.
In order to be a success in the entertainment industry requires the same inter-personal skills that politicans have. The politics of Hollywood and the politics of Washington DC are the same. I'll be more interested to see what kind of leader he is. (Politicans and leaders are different. Sometimes a person is both. Sometimes a person is one and not the other.) Can he inspire his people to rebuild? Can he gather the resources necessary for them get back on their feet? Haiti needs a politican AND a leader right now. Most of y'all are passing judgement on a person you know nothing about. Haters gonna hate I suppose.

Well, we can only hope he will be the one Haiti needs.
After so many corrupted governments in Haiti, one more for them to try with this individual.
    God bless them.

For the past five years, I have been linving in a country side of Haiti. There isnt' any authority presence around to help the paysans. However; the politicians know how and when to get their votes. I have the feelling the haitian's gouvernment doen't care much for his people. Nevertheless, for those who live in the country sides.
Hopelfuly; with Wyclef Jean who is not a politician, i am sure live will be better for the haitians. Because, he has been prouving in many occassions that he cares for his homeland.

Haiti needs a plan. A plan for food (growth and distribution), medical services, housing, jobs, education. Can Wyclef even write a business plan? Who is his cabinet? I like Wyclef but there's a practicality to this. Maybe if he can be the front man and manage a very good cabinet that will put the country together. But he'll need God, Allah, Buddah and the Hindu gods walking with him every step of the way. Some jedi knights would help too.

I think that it's ok not to like Wyclef but I would say since when should the president of any country should be able to do anything. KinNYC, do you think the US president could write down a plan to deal with HIV/AIDS himself? Does that make him incompetent? I am not sure about it, my point is he should have key persons at key places. What do you know about his cabinet? I doubt that he has one by now even though he knows for sure who he might want to be close to him when he got elected. Are we putting the cart before the horse? Now, all that the man has to do is concentrating his effort to win the presidential election, by showing he could do the job

Why is anyone surprised by this. He is just the kind of criminal thug that has run this country for years. He is just like all the rest of the rap star jumping ignorant ranters.

The key to all of this, at least for me, are Wyclef's final words in the interview on CNN...

    "Haiti Is Open for Business"

I speak and echo the voice of many of my fellow Haitian friends, Wyclef is not presidential material. He does not have any formal education, He is not politically knowledgeable, he does not have the know how to rule a country; especially a country such as Haiti that has been divested , and crumble by the earthquake not forgetting its long standing political corruptness, poverty and high illiteracy. Haiti needs someone who is well educated, who is politically engaging, who has the instrument and tools to succeed to rule and to lead such a divested nation. Haiti need someone who speaks the official language of the people which is (French); and someone who can interact with the bourgeois and the less fortunate at large, this person need to be able to listen to both sides and make an effort to understand both world, the world of the rich (Les bourgeois) and the world of the poor) this is the only way that particular person will bring out change. Haiti has been in chaos since it’s independence, so it is written, the time has come for right person to make a stand and lead this impoverish nation to the next level. Haiti needs a President with tremendous strength, courage, determination, well educated and politically savvy. Wyclef, we Love you for what you have done for Haiti, you are a great humanitarian who put forth tremendous effort to show your love for your people, from the bottom of my heart your efforts are dully noted and you have ensured your place in the Haitian nation and in it's history. However, you are not qualified to hold such prestigious and challenging post in Haiti. So therefore, the answer is No…………..Vote No, for Wyclef Jean................................................
