U.S. boosts aid as number of homeless doubles in Pakistan floods

The estimate of the number of Pakistanis left homeless by massive flooding has doubled to 4 million, the United Nations said Thursday as Washington ramped up assistance.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced an additional $60 million in U.S. aid, bringing to $150 million the amount pledged by the United States.

"The flooding has already affected more people than the Indian Ocean tsunami, the Haiti earthquake, and the 2005 Pakistan earthquake combined," she told a plenary session at the United Nations. "And as we meet, we fear that a new wave of water may be about to sweep through areas that have already been devastated by the floods."

She added, "We see 20 million members of the human family in desperate need of help. This is a defining moment - for Pakistan, and for all of us.

1st, Let me be flip by asking where are all the OIL TRILLION$ taken in by their Muslim brothers in OPEC? Now seriously, WHERE ARE ALL THE OIL TRILLION$ TAKEN IN BY THEIR MUSLIM BROTHER$ IN OPEC ? Oh yeah, different kind of Islam. They'll fund madrassas schools to raise terrorists, but if anything goes wrong and Afghanistan or Pakistan need REAL help, they have religious differences and palace budgets....
Don't worry, the good ole SATAN USA will arrive to save the day, supplying food and medical supplies to every terrorist and drug lord gang in this unfortunate and backward nation to be delivered to whom they see fit, especially religiously militant MEN. SATAN's money is always good....funny thing about religious 8th Century dwellers...SATAN's money is ALWAYS good...til they need to rally the troops against SATAN again. Wouldn't it be nice to save the women and children from this ALL MALE BACKWARD culture? The pictures break my heart, but our money solves absolutely nothing. When this is over, we will be SATAN once again.

Billions US$ more for Pakistan ???? – do the Pakistani government elite really need more for their rich lifestyles – don't give a penny to the Pakistan government. They sit back in comfort in their 35,000 sq ft homes smoking Cuban cigars and drinking French congac (yes – the elitist hypocrites dring alcohol). At least funnel $ all through the AMERICAN RED CROSS so the government PK officials cant steal it. Give it to Pakistan Govt and the poor people will get pennys (maybe) through "trickle down economics" as billions flood (no pun intended) into their numbered Swiss bank accounts for their wives shopping vacations to Europe and childrens' education at Oxford. Good luck America on making right decision.

Wake up America!!!!! These people have nuclear arms. That means they have money to buy supplies. You guys are broke and getting farther into debt every day. If the stupid people get there way and the GOP take over you will be finished. Pakistan told you with your financial aid they forced the Taliban out of the country but who is threatening to kill the aid workers? Don't you get it?? They are crying wolf to get foreign aid and they (like Afghanistan) will milk it for all it's got.
