Gunmen storm Mogadishu hotel; several lawmakers killed

Two men dressed in military uniforms stormed a hotel in Mogadishu, Somalia, on Tuesday and killed at least 15 people before detonating explosives and killing themselves, officials said.

Among the dead were several lawmakers.

Journalists at the scene said the attackers committed suicide after government security forces surrounded Muna Hotel.

"Just before 11 a.m. two attackers, a gunman and a suicide bomber, gained access to a hotel in Mogadishu," said Maj. Barigye Ba Hoku, spokesman for the African Union Mission in Somalia.

RAID is perfect. I associate it with a product that kills insects. Looks like they invoked self inflicted RAID.

Maybe they will all kill themselves – they should do a mass suicide bombing and get it over with. Didn't some colony do that in the 70's. Maybe they can just drink the cool-aide or Tang – would be much cheaper.

On a serious note – when will mainstream Islam declare that suicide bombing is against the religion – unless, does that religion seriously believe in the 69 virgins,. etc. (I know its not 69).

Maybe my sarcasm detector is not working this early in the morning but you must be joking. It's actually very smart and considerate for folks to kill themselves after murdering others. Nevermind that Islam hardly has the corner on that market.

@Dexter Um, mainstream Islam *has* said the extremists (which would include the suicide bombers) are operating outside the religion. And the Jonestown massacre was made up of Christians and they didn't blow themselves up; they used poisoned Kool-Aide. Hence the term "did you/they drink the Kool-Aide?" when referring to mass idiocy. IE: today's Islamaphobes and Republicans must have drunk the Kool-Aide.

Why is this CNN article tip-toeing around the fact that it was a group of Muslim extremists who just murdered 15 people in that Hotel? No mention of it in this article? Talk about Censorship? Shame on you CNN.
