Japan Coast Guard frees 14 Chinese crew members

A Japan Coast Guard official told CNN the guard has completed an
investigation and freed 14 Chinese crew members of a boat Monday, but the
captain of the boat is still detained.

A Chinese trawler collided with Japanese patrol ships Tuesday off the
disputed Diaoyu Islands, in the East China Sea.

The Japanese Coast Guard arrested the trawler's captain, alleging that he
obstructed public officers while they performed their duties.
