Police: Washington woman admits acid attack was a hoax

Bethany Storro told police an African-American woman threw acid in her face.

A Washington woman who told police that a stranger threw acid in her face admitted Thursday that her injuries were self-inflicted, authorities said.

Bethany Storro, 28, told Vancouver Police that an African-American woman passed her on the street and threw a cup of caustic liquid in her face the evening of August 30. She was released from an Oregon hospital on September 5 after undergoing surgery for her injuries after the alleged attack.

But discrepancies emerged during the investigation, Vancouver Police Chief Clifford Cook said in a press conference Thursday.

"Ms. Storro admitted her injuries were self-inflicted and the attack itself had not occurred as she had previously reported," he said.

Storro had credited a pair of sunglasses that she bought shortly before the attack with saving her eyesight. But details such as those led police to question her version of the attack, said police Commander Marla Schuman.

"It was all the little things that didnt quite add up," Schuman said.

Storro is still being interviewed by detectives. Prosecutors will decide whether to charge her, Schuman said.

"She is extremely upset," Schuman said. "She is very remorseful. It got bigger than she expected."

Kay, since your obviously speaking for black people as their ambassador, giving you the power to generalize ALL white people, then I could say that ALL black people write like uneducated baboons. For the love of God you can't even spell BLACK! Go get your GED before you decide to blog again please.

Just a note to say that in the initial video coverage of this woman's ordeal as she was sitting in the hospital, she claimed she was a "believer" of Jesus Christ. Yes she seemed to attack black people and stirred up fear locally, but spiritually speaking, this was a demonic attack mocking Jesus Christ and those who truly are "believers". In the Bible Jesus said that people would hate us in the world (attack the faith) because they hated Him. Be encouraged, this attack goes deeper than skin color...those who have the love of Christ in their hearts would not act out in such a way. Jesus said you will know his followers by their "fruit" and her actions are not from Him.

Once again a racist white person blames an imaginary black person for their madness.

One obvious difference is that Brawley was a 14-year-old CHILD when she made false and racist abuse allegations, while Bethany Storro has now been caught doing the same as a 28-year-old ADULT. There are other differences between the two... maybe that is what is "confusing" you?
As far as similarities, I suspect that Storro is the product of an abusive home, as was Brawley. Too bad that the right has been so effective in demonizing tax-funded programs that would help families in need...

Let's just leave Jesus out of it, okay? Less mess that way. Besides, I'm sure she didn't mean to offend you by saying she believed. She's a little coo coo in the head anyway, so I think we can at least give her a by on her Jesus comment. Throwing acid on her face and blaming a black woman on the other hand... Not so much.
