GOP leaders pledge to cut government, taxes

House Republicans sought to recapture the spirit of their 1994 election landslide Thursday, unveiling a 21-page "Pledge to America" that includes promises to slash taxes, cut government and reverse President Barack Obama's health care reforms.

Among other things, House GOP leaders pledged to permanently extend all of the Bush-era tax cuts due to expire at the end of this year - including for individuals making over $250,000.

They also proposed giving small businesses a tax deduction equal to 20 percent of their income, while requiring Congress to review any new federal regulations that add to the deficit.

If the tax cuts were only for the rich, how come the Prez now wants to keep the Middle Class portion of them ?

The Economy was great prior to the Democrats taking over Congress in the 2006 elections. Average unemployment rate was 5.2% and the Dow was @ or near 14,000. Barney and Chris refused to put controls on Freddie/Fannie and it all went downhill from there. Yeah, I'd sure go back to 2001-2008, beats the mess we are in now!

The Lib's class warfare and racial accusations are getting old, try thinking up something new. We (the people) are going to hold EVERYONE accountable. Stopping this regime is just the first step. Once people see that they can make a differance, we'll stay involved and work on the next group that gets elected and breaks their promises.
