CA executions suspended soon due to drug shortage

A supply shortage of the drug used for executions in California will force a short term suspension of lethal injections in the state after September 30, according to spokeswoman Christine Gasparac with California Attorney General Jerry Brown's office.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) informed the California Attorney General's office that it has been unable to secure sodium thiopental after September 30, according to Gasparac.  In turn, Attorney General Brown's office will recommend that future executions wait to be scheduled until the CDCR expects to have the drug available.

Commonly used in the induction phase of general anesthesia. Also used for C Sections as the mother becomes unconcious but the baby remains concious...There is no shortage

It is cheaper to incarcerate people for life. The death penalty is barbaric and outdated.

Executing people that deserve it is justice!!! Why don't you look up the serial child killer "Joseph Edward Duncan III" and read what he did. I don't think you will be able to sleep at night after you read it. This is someone who is 100% guilty and deserves to be put down ASAP. Why don't you read what those poor children had to go through . Then you will see why the dealth penalty is necessary.

they say there is a shortage of the stuff in Oklahoma too and that is why are choosing between two different guys to put to sleep in oct. but there cannot be a shortage cuz if there was then they would be telling people that they cannot be hdaving their babies or they cannot have their surygies due to a shortage of meds. and i feel like they did not give the person or people they were killing a choice of dying now or later or even which way they wanted to die so in whatever fashion they killed in is the way they should die in and stop living on tax payers money the USA would not be in the hole so much much if we would stop paying for all the comforts of crimeals hell there r people in this world that try harrd to live right that do not have all the comforts as a crimal does hell people do crimes just to have comforts they do not have living the right life oiut of jail
