UFOs eyed nukes, ex-Air Force personnel say

Seven former U.S. Air Force personnel gathered in Washington Monday to recount UFO sightings over nuclear weapons facilities in decades past – accounts that a UFO researcher says show extraterrestrial beings are interested in the world’s nuclear arms race and may be sending humans a message.

At a news conference at the National Press Club, the six former officers and one ex-enlisted man recalled either personal sightings or reports from subordinates and others of UFOs hovering over nuclear missile silos or nuclear weapons storage areas in the 1960s, '70s and '80s.

Three of the former Air Force officers – though they hadn’t seen the UFOs themselves - told reporters that UFOs hovering over silos around Montana’s Malmstrom Air Force Base in 1967 appeared to have temporarily deactivated some of the nuclear missiles.

Much of the testimony already has appeared in books, websites and elsewhere. But UFO researcher and author Robert Hastings, who organized the news conference, said the time has come for the U.S. government to acknowledge the UFO visits.

“I believe - these gentlemen believe - that this planet is being visited by beings from another world, who for whatever reason have taken an interest in the nuclear arms race which began at the end of World War II,” said Hastings, who added that more than 120 former military personnel have told him about UFOs visiting nuclear sites.

“Regarding the missile shutdown incidents, my opinion … is that whoever are aboard these craft are sending a signal to both Washington and Moscow, among others, that we are playing with fire – that the possession and threatened use of nuclear weapons potentially threatens the human race and the integrity of the planetary environment,” he said.

Former Air Force Capt. Robert Salas – who has written a book about the Montana incidents – said he was underground when a UFO hovered over his missile silo in March 1967, and therefore couldn’t see it. He said one of his guards above ground told him a red, glowing object about 30 feet in diameter was hovering just above the front gate of the facility, in an isolated area far from Malmstrom.

“And just as I [called my commander], our missiles began going into what’s called a no-go condition, or unlaunchable. Essentially, they were disabled while this object was still hovering over out site,” Salas said.

Salas and others said the military urged them at the time not to talk about the incidents.

Retired Col. Charles Halt recalled seeing UFOs over the woods near Royal Air Force Stations Bentwaters and Woodbridge in eastern England in December 1980. He and security personnel were investigating reports of strange lights just outside one of the bases.

“All through the forest was a bright glowing object,” he said Monday. “The best way I can describe it, it looked like an eye – with bright red, with a dark center. It appeared to be winking. It was shedding something like molten metal, was dripping off it.

“It silently moved through the trees, avoiding any contact, it bobbed up and down, and at one point it actually approached us. We tried to get closer. It receded out into the field, beyond the forest, and silently exploded into five white objects – gone. So we went out into the field looking for any evidence, because something had been apparently falling off it – and we find nothing,” he said.

He recalled subsequently seeing other objects in the sky, including one that stopped about 3,000 feet overhead and “sent down a concentrated beam at our feet.” No one was harmed.

“The best way I can equate it is sort of a laser beam. We stood there in awe. Was this a warning? Was this an attempt to communicate? Was this a weapon? Or just a probe?” he said.

At about the same time, he was hearing radio reports from base personnel that beams from some of the objects were “falling into or near the weapons storage area.”

In a staff meeting later, a general decided “it happened off base, so it’s a British affair,” Halt recalled. “In other words, they were loathe to get involved.”

The Air Force investigated UFOs from 1948 to 1969 under a program eventually called Project Blue Book. The service, on its website, says the project concluded that “no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security.” It also says there has been "no evidence that sightings categorized as 'unidentified' are extraterrestrial vehicles."

Salas said the UFO phenomenon “is real, not imaginary.”

“There is current excessive secrecy in our government surrounding this phenomenon,” he said.

A reporter asked how many of the former military personnel subscribed to Hastings’ theory that the message of extraterrestrials is that humans should get rid of nuclear weapons, and how many of them believed that we should get rid of nukes. Of the seven, it appeared that only Salas raised his hand.

    Danger, Bob Salas!! Danger!!!

Seriously...anyone with an IQ over 15 has to accept that there is life beyond our planet. No logical reason has ever been given for life not to exist elsewhere. Whether they've been visiting us is only going to be public information when it is no longer easy to lie. I don't doubt that the primary reason for keeping it secret is out of fear of the reaction of religious nutjobs going nuclear and being unable to accept that maybe their interpretation of God is not exactly correct.

just my 3.1 cents. (Inflation, you know.)

Here is why I think the ETs are here ...

Some advanced civilization out there can probably see into the future. They are here because we're currently at a fork in the road in our development.

1 – Within the next 20 years, we will probably have figured out the genetic manipulations that we need to allow humans to live for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

2 – Our nature is to be curious about how things work. Our technology will keep advancing at an increasingly exponential rate. Just imagine some Einsteins living for thousands of years.

3 – Our temperament is to be at the top of the food chain ...

So, I think ETs realize that in the not too distant future, there will be a new Sheriff in this Galaxy, and it's us.

So, their Agenda may be to interfere with our development in the next 'x' number of years, thereby changing the future of the Galaxy.

You are making assumptions about something you know little about. We all have a right to our opnion, but this is something where if you choose to believe in the possiblility, then you must also consider the implications of the actual events as told by those who have experienced them. It's important to be as scientific about this as we possibly can.

      @Anonymous,
I din't understand your entry at all ... But, you're absolutely right, I have no knowledge about this stuff at all. I have never had any experiences or seen anything. It's just my intuition. I'm sure the truth is more complicated than fiction.

followed by a quick snort of coke off some production asst b o o b s and off to tmz to talk about how river pheonix was actually a envoy fo the aliens and was killed by the alphabet black suit guys because of he anti nuke preachings.

So, if these aliens do exist... Why the heck do they care about us? It's like humans getting involved with a meerkat skirmish. They don't have anything we want, we don't care if a few meerkats get killed. What do we have that the aliens, who are supposedly superior beings, want?
Logically it's survival of the fittest. So if we humans appear to be "mentally unfit" and foolishly kill ourselves off with nukes, then that's evolution. The aliens shouldn't meddle with that, should they now?
Lets say there is a nuclear holocaust, a few people will most likely survive.
And if in the end humanity is destroyed, who will be there to lament about it? No one.
If the aliens are so dang interested in saving us, they can make a zoo and stop acting like an overtly concerned parents. LEAVE US ALONE!
    (That includes the government)

      Arlyn,
The Aliens will not want to leave us alone, because, in the future, we may not leave them along. Humanity has the potential to overtake their development. We may not want to be number 2. It is good to be at the top and in control. I bet you our Government is already in contact with some ET groups. If we have some alliance with some ET groups, others not part of that group may be concerned about their future.

@Peter: It is exactly your type of narcissistic thinking that has doomed humanity. Humans have this compulsive need to dominate and control others. Why? Because deep down, you are scared, frightened little children that don't want your comfort zone to be taken away.

If these aliens wanted to destroy humans, they would have done so a long time ago. They have spared us, when they clearly could have moved us out of the way. It would be just like humans to then later on destroy and enslave THEM, after we have received a little bit of power. This is the exact reason why I believe humans DESERVE to be destroyed.

      @Homesick,
Why would you wish your own kind to be destroyed? There is nothing wrong for sentient beings to be concerned about survival. This morning, as soon as I woke up I instinctly knew that I was alive and as such fearful of all kinds of things, including survival. I mean, if all of a sudden an earthquake were to shake my house, I would look for a way to survive.

The instinct to survive is natural to the state of living. It is one of the common traits of every living creature on earth ... and I bet you it's the same for every living ET creature out there.

So, yes, I believe we can live in peace, but I doubt every Alien out there is benevolent.

See my post below...short answer. They're not aliens. They're earthlings, using gravity well to punch through from a parallel Earth...and motivated by either curiosity or survival (who knows what shape their Earth is in).

The scale of the universe is all but unfathomable if string theory's description of multi-verses and a flexible, permeable space-time as science currently describes them is true...

      @Homesick,
One more thought popped in me head.

That is, I'm sure that once we have the technology to start roaming the heavens, the Galactic ETs may invite us to join Galactic Club A, or B, or C, etc. I'm sure that in the end, we'll pick the right club. That is, the one club whose charter may strive to advance the quality of living for humanity. Afterall, we may have a history rich in tribal warfare, as well as irrational and outdated religious beliefs, but we still do have a caring heart. One that cares about family and the future of our country.

It amazes me how vocal the "skeptics" are when they clearly don't even have a basic understanding of this subject. Do your homework before spouting off!!! I DARE you to read Leslie Kean's book "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go On the Record" and still make your ignorant arguments that there is no good evidence to support the fact that we are being visited.

      David..you are exactly correct.

It's alright to have an opinion but it's much better to have an INFORMED opinion. To many people are just relying on the propaganda we are feed by our governments, corporations (big media), religions etc....they have their own self serving agendas. These agendas are mostly based on power and/or greed. The lies that are told change depending on what level in the system they are told. We have to actively search out real information and truth in our society in order to be really awake and aware. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of effort and time sifting through the crap. Plus, it takes an open mind. Developing a very good internal compass for truth and lies is a must in these times. God help us all

BTW if the powers that be lie about this to us what else do you think they may be lying to us about? Keep you eyes, and minds open people UFO's are just the tip of the ice berg..

The Trurh: THERE ARE NO UFO's. I've spoken to several people who worked in secret areas of the gov and the UFO saucers are almost all US military aircraft. We got the bulk of the anti gravity technology from Nazi Germany in 1945. Notice all the ufo's started appearing after that. We now have developed a large number of the secret craft and almost all the sitings are of military crafts. This includes the nuclear visits. If the US were to ever go to another world war like with china or Iran we would likely win because we have such advanced technology. Go read about the Nazi Bell experiments and how that flying saucer technology disappeared including the scientists after 1945, we took that and Many other technologies and have developed many of our greatest aircraft from that. So if you see silver balls or saucers in the sky thank the US government.

And let me get this straight you are saying there are no UFO's because people you know who work for the govt. say there are none? That's the same BS they tell everyone. haha

If would have been cool if they brodcasted this speech while doing all this,

I am leaving soon and you will forgive me if I speak bluntly. The Universe grows smaller every day - and the threat of aggression by any group - anywhere - can no longer be tolerated.

There must be security for all - or no one is secure... This does not mean giving up any freedom except the freedom to act irresponsibly.

Your ancestors knew this when they made laws to govern themselves - and hired policemen to enforce them.

We of the other planets have long accepted this principle. We have an organization for the mutual protection of all planets - and for the complete elimination of aggression. A sort of United Nations on the Planetary level... The test of any such higher authority, of course, is the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we created a race of robots–Their function is to patrol the planets - in space ships like this one - and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression we have given them absolute power over us.

At the first sign of violence they act automatically against the aggressor. And the penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk.

The result is that we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war - free to pursue more profitable enterprises. (after a pause) We do not pretend to have achieved perfection - but we do have a system - and it works.

I came here to give you the facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet - but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned- out cinder.

Your choice is simple. Join us and live in peace. Or pursue your present course - and face obliteration. We will be waiting for your answer. decision rests with you

A few very rare cases might be extraterritorial but 99% are Super secret United States military craft. We have had the technology to float saucers that travel at over 1300 miles an hour since 1945. Read about the Nazi bell. Where do you think the v22 bat wing bomber prototypes came from? We have had 50 years to perfect saucer and ant gravity and electro/torsion technologies so it's not unbelievable imagine us testing and crashing saucers the past 50 years. I'm not saying a small fraction are not alien but the bult is Nazi technologies. Hitler was on the verge of a nuclear bomb and perfecting the bell saucers using red mercury when the war ended it all. We took some of these scientists back many worked under NASA and under the paperclip group and perfected this technology. Be secure and proud as Americans we have these secret advances as if China or Russia ever threaten us we have quite an advantage over their dumb people who don't have half the brains and ingenuity we have. It would be a quick war.

You know, fundamentally we all need the same things to survive. What if it came down to knowing we're not the only ones, what do you think would happen to all the wars on earth? .. They would most likely, end. Not because we have a solution, but because something has become a new and more powerful enemy. I assure you, if they do exist, and they come floating around us with anti-gravity machines, it's not like we're going to have a chance. Be for real. You're going to overpower an enemy that has unbelievable superiority? .. It's just simply not going to happen. The countries of the world need to stop acting like chimps, and band together to start minding resources off this planet so we can strive to expand. I'll bet if people had the opportunity to leave this planet, almost 50% of them would, because nobody likes how the world currently is, unless you're rich and buy anything you want, and some people, aren't even satisfied then. What about those people?

If these aircraft are, as Stormy 123 expresses (2:25pm) with unequivocal certainty, US made, then the government of the United States should truly be accountable for all the misery in the world. To build that kind of technology, keep it secret, when mankind ails with disease and hunger is shameful behavior and has massive implications.

But I completely disagree with stormy 123, by the way...I don't believe the United States has some hidden technology waiting to come out when a nuclear war starts.

There IS something going on. Something that perhaps there is nothing anyone can do anything about it , so why come out and confirm it? The government can't confirm anything it can't do anything about or cannot readily explain. It would render it powerless and almost useless...

The SETI people with all their tongue in cheek comments regarding this issue, have been barking at the wrong tree for years.

This mystery will continue, I am afraid. Iif there is to be disclosure it will have to be world wide and with world leaders bowing down their heads to this extraordinary phenomena...that is unless the ongoing rumor of "contact" really is true.
