Iran's Defense Ministry released photos of what it says are its new radar-evading flying boats, the Bavar 2.
Iran unveiled three squadrons of new flying boats on Tuesday, Iranian news agencies reported.
The craft, dubbed the Bavar 2, is armed with a machine gun and carries surveillance cameras, according to a report from the Iranian Student News Agency.

"Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the few countries which managed to design, build and use flying boats in a short time," said Defense Minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, who oversaw the delivering of the aircraft at the Bandar Abbas naval facility on the Persian Gulf near the Strait of Hormuz.
The delivery comes as Iran celebrates its Week of Sacred Defense, which commemorates its eight-year-long resistance to the 1980 Iraqi invasion, according to the Fars News Agency.
The flying boats look like one Iran used during Persian Gulf war games in April 2006. Media reports from the time include a video of a flying boat taking off.
After those 2006 reports, bloggers poked fun at Iran’s so-called stealth technology, saying the flying boat looked like something anyone could buy in kit form from mechanical magazine ads.
what they call it?... a "DUCK"?
Don't see any weapons? Do these boats even have them? The engine for the propeller looks like something from a ultra light. So I cannot imagine speed is very good. I guess they would make for good target practice.
Flying boats are the future.
Which brother was flying the boat? Wilbur or Orville?
It's a very old Soviet design of a "wing in ground effect" or "ekranoplan" aerial vehicle. Nothing new.
Yeah, I'm sure that big ol' steel engine on top of this thing won't show up on radar.......from the 40's!! ;)
These things are useless. Why make something that can do two things a little bit, but excel at neither. Also this machine gun seems insufficeint. I mean would it kill ya to put a missile or two on those things? Lazy, and trying to be flashy. What a bunch of ...... ;;;..... I mean build some fighter jets or bombers. Or pay for propoganda. Anything is better than this.
It might thwart the French but that's about it.
"De Plane, Boss, de plane!". "I'm Mr. Rourke, Welcome to Faaaaantasy Island!"
I built one of these last year with Legos.
now that Russia is no longer willing to sell them arms i guess this is the low tech crap Iran is capable of producing , what next a few canoes for their navy !!
This version of Iran's "Flying Boats" may not be a threat but they should not be ignored. As has been pointed out before, these are simple versions of Wing in Ground Effect vehicles. In my mind, it seems that this gives Iran three training squadrons for the pilots while a larger, more effective version is put into sevice, purhapes one capable of carring cruise missiles.
we should bomb iran just for bad design sense. just saying.
I wan in the Marines and this is a Joke their what suicide Bombers? HAHAHA,
Thunderbirds are go!!
