California Supreme Court upholds furlough order

The furloughs that California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered in 2008 are estimated to save the state $80 million a month.

California's Supreme Court on Monday upheld Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's furlough order for state workers, according to court documents. Schwarzenegger ordered the furloughs in 2008 in an effort to help the cash-strapped state.

The order required state workers to take two unpaid days off per month. The number of days was bumped up to three in 2009 as revenues continued to plummet. The furloughs - the latest of which were renewed in August - are estimated to save the state $80 million a month. FULL STORY

Enron's shadow. California was especially hit hard by the Enron scam. Maybe if Arnold hadn't personaly seen to it that the State's lawsuits vs. Enron were dropped, furloughs would not be happening today..

Are you kidding me? Arnold is my hero! If the Feds leave Cali alone we'll not only banish the drug lords of Mexico but we will come out of this with more wealth than ever! Remember that Grey Davis put us in this fincial mess. Davis purchased enron stock all the way down to $.97!! Trying to shore up his buddy's ponzy scheme! A small tax on pot will revitalize our econmy while reducing our jail population by 60%!!
