Judge orders military to stop enforcing don't ask, don't tell

A federal judge ordered that the U.S. military stop enforcing the don't ask, don't tell policy on Tuesday.

Judge Virginia Phillips ordered the military "immediately to suspend and discontinue any investigation, or discharge, separation, or other proceeding, that may have been commenced under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"."

The judge had previously ruled that the policy regarding gays serving in the military violated service members Fifth Amendment rights but delayed issuing the injunction.

It is glaringly evident when people without the slightest legal education comment on legal matters. Go read a few books before you start declaring the limitations of judicial power.

Just another liberal nail in the coffin of the Late Great United States. These same activist judges will wonder why they are being beheaded when the Islamist have completely taken control. Useful idiots.

You do realise that getting rid of this law would allow more people to join up and defend your country against Islamic fundamentalists, right? You logic is clearly flawed.

So us joining the ranks of the rest of the civilized world by stopping this policy is the end, eh?

      Get some perspective, man.

If the "late great United States" is the one where bigots like you are in control, then good ridance!

You're right. Since hard-core Muslim fundamentalists are also anti-gay we should appease them and keep gays out of the military. That's just what we want...a country based on hard-line Islamic ideals. The world would be a better place if we would all hate gays just like those 14th century religious states that are showing such enlightenment in the Middle East.

This opens the door for more law suits because I just see all the gays coming out of the closet now screaming that someone abused them because they are gay. Sick!

Get off his back. He has a point. Gays openly serving our military is the worst thing that can happen with Don't Ask Don't Tell. That wasn't put in there as a means to supress the gays, it was put in there to PROTECT THEM! This is a sad day in america.

If your God requires you to hate, discriminate, and pass judgment on someone when that person has never done anything to you (aside from offend your ridiculously delicate sensibilities) then your god is smaller than my God.

Are you actively trying to promote insurrection? My understanding is that treason can be punished with execution in the military....

She can hold them in contempt of court, and if they refuse to comply, she has the authority to order the U.S. Marshal Service to arrest and jail them.

Not to mention they would then be subject to court-martial under Article 134 of the UCMJ (conduct which brings disrepect upon the Armed Services).
