Two fatally shot at Tennessee post office, police say

[Updated at 11:30 a.m.] Two people were killed Monday at the post office in Henning, Tennessee, the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office said.

Local and state police are on the scene with the FBI.

The sheriff's office would not confirm there was a shooting, but CNN affiliate WMC-TV in Memphis reported two female victims were killed in a shooting that was reported to police about 9 a.m.

Don't believe the hype about gun control. Britain had to change the way they tracked statistics to show gun violence decreased when it actually INCREASED the years following the passage of its strict gun control laws. Every male citizen above the age of 18 is ISSUED a gun by the Swiss government and it has some of the lowest deaths related to gun violence in the world.

Jesus loves guns, his father invented the 356 magnum. He was gay, but the Pure Fire Power made up for his lack of prowess with the ladies.

The Swiss have compulsory military service which is why they are issued guns so it's not an apples to apples comparison. In England the amount of knife crime went up considerable after guns were no longer available. Still much safer than gun crime.

Untill we start using the death penalty criminals have no fear. Our country better get back to punishing people and put some fear in the system. ACLU has caused much of this. put some FEAR back in our country for criminals. The same in our schools, there is no fear because there is no disapline. Look how the crime has dropped in Arizona because jail is no fun anymore. WAKE UP.

100% correct. The problem in today's society is that people have no fear of the law. The punishment does not fit the crime, people have to be responsible for their actions and have to be punished accordingly.

To all anti-gun ownership supporters, go live under the North Korean government. They have all of the power there and you can compare your lifestyle there with how it was here.

Guess should go live in Somalia where there is no gun control then. Just silly.

To each their own. Compare ours to South Korea and Sweden, then look at Somalia. Do you really think if a 'boogey man Obama' really want to be a 'Kim'; he has tanks and F-16's to take on your typical M-16's, about the best a militia can own.
This needless fear of Big Federal Government reminds us of the 60's radicals who used to call the cops pigs. Then Charles Manson happened!

This is crazy. Why ban guns? The criminals are still going to get them. Just like putting up signs that say no guns allowed in store- That's stupid. You think a criminal is going to look at that sign and say "Damn I wanted to shoot someone but I can't because they have a no gun allowed sign. Hahaha.... That's a joke. The only ppl that leave their guns in the car is the ones that could possibly protect you or help out. The legal gun carriers are the ONLY ones that will leave their gun in the car. Personally I would want all the law bidding legal carriers I could find in my store.

The police are seeking two men who fled the post office in a pickup truck. Why is everyone assuming that the shooting had something to do with USPS management. Let's all remember how we got the USPS. His name was Richard Nixon and he got rid of the U.S. Department of the Post Office, a cabinet level agency of the United States Government from the beginning of the republic. The reason? So someone (UPS) could make a profit on the first class mail. Well, here we are in 2010, with a USPS that is broke because it has lost the pofitable service routs to private carriers, UPS is broke and looking for a gummint bailout, and FedEx is making a mint moving mail among profitable points of service. Privitization and deregulation: the conservative solutions to everything.

Freedom is dangerous. You want a free society (with all of your rights intact–including the right to bear arms)? Then you must live with some degree of danger. Want security? Then you must trade freedoms–that's how it works people. Me? I'd rather be free and take my chances.

Is it just the U.S.Postal System that has all these killings within? I'm sure other countries have issues, but rarely do we have/hear about killings. Is the easy acces to guns in the U.S. the cause?...and don't give me that "people kill, not guns" crap...I'm not taking sides, just asking. The worst thing I've seen in a Canadian Post office is a postal clerk being yelled at. Condolences to the families and friends of the slain.
