WikiLeaks reveals thousands of previously unknown deaths, activists say

Classified military documents published on the WikiLeaks site increase the civilian death toll of the Iraq war by 15,000, anti-war activists said at a news conference Saturday.

"We have seen that there are approximately 15,000 never previously documented or known cases of civilians who have been killed by violence in Iraq," WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange said.

Those cases raise the civilian death toll in Iraq to 122,000, said Iraq Body Count, an-anti-war group.

Assange and others appeared at a news conference on Saturday in London, England, to discuss the release of nearly 400,000 classified military documents from the Iraq war by his whistle-blower website WikiLeaks.

Assange said the massive leak aims to reveal hidden truths about the Iraq war.

FULL STORY

"The attack on the truth by war begins long before war starts and continues long after a war ends," Assange said.

I guess Wikileaks is suggesting we go into Iran now. I see a pattern of how war is bad then pointing out how we should be going to war with nations who are aiding the enemy. If Iran is supplying arms or training to further the killing of innocent Iraqis then they should be dealt with swiftly and severely. The same can be said for Pakistan.

Mark. Our president is a collaborator with wikileaks. FDR, Harry Truman, Ike, Nixon, Ford, Reagan and both Bushs would have had both the obtainer and releaser of this information awaiting trial for treason and threatening the safety of U.S. citizens.
One could start the argument, what about the 15,000 non reported Iraqi deaths? I ask, what about them? Whoopteeda.
What about London England, Moscow, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, numerous entire Chinese regions, numerous Russian officers and their families, Cambodia, Vietnam, Berlin, Kurd villages etc etc etc. More civilians have been killed than soldiers!!! Often times by their own fuking people!
Now if want to kill somebody, you all quit fighting each other and get your butts into Iran!! Kill Ahmadinejad, the clerics and the Burrito Supreme Leader. Or you are going to see the killing and sending to Heaven of millions and millions of civilians by God.
How do you like them apples? Complaining of extra civilians sent to Heaven, now.
    Laughable and disgusting.

What better way to thin the herd than a for profit war. I think the bankers and oil men would agree we will have to enter Iran.

I don't buy the war for oil argument. The middle east produces next to nothing when compared with Russia, Canada, South America, Mexico and even the US. Bush as president with a Republican majority congress could have pushed through legislation to open up ANWAR and the rest of the government land that has oil in it. Bush never tried to do that. Many speeches Bush made were in favor of expanding ethanol and other fuel sources. I truly believe Bush wanted to settle an old score with Saddam and wanted to use 9/11 paranoia to involve us in Iraq. Until assassinations are made legal again we will continue to see mass casualties in war. The Iranian people don't want to live under the current political structure and would revolt if the US eliminated Ahmedinijad.

Settling an old score is also an excellent argument for war.

I know the reality is if a Space Shuttle landed in 1869 at Atlanta then took off, people would have freaked out. That's just over 100 years before it's developement. There are millions and millions of years ahead of our existence available for technology developement. Combine that with the fact there are billions of Earth like planets. Combine that with asking, what is our goal as a planet?
Our goal is to get a reproducing male and female human being to the nearest Earth like planet. What's the point to all this? The point is the goal we are trying to reach has been achieved before.
Do not ignore what is going on by assuming they are acts of nature, because you are in for a big shock.
We lack the ability to know what is possible.
