Cargo bomb plot: Latest developments

[Updated at 2:13 p.m.] Yemeni authorities are intensifying operations to capture militant cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and to capture or kill al Qaeda bomb maker Ibrahim Hasan al-Asiri, a senior Yemeni government official told CNN.

[Updated at 12:41 p.m.] The U.K.'s Home Secretary, Theresa May, has told the U.K. Parliament that all passenger and cargo flights, as well as all flights holding unaccompanied freight from Yemen and Somalia, will be banned from travelling to the U.K. for the next month at which time, the move will be reviewed.

[Updated at 12:32 p.m.] Germany has banned all incoming flights from Yemen in the wake of a bomb plot apparently originating there, air traffic control announced Monday.

[Posted at 12:23 p.m.] The FBI has dispatched teams of explosives experts to the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates to help in the examination of the printer-related bombs discovered on Friday, a federal law enforcement official told CNN Monday.

The FBI is not sending extra people to Yemen, where the packages originated, at this time, the source said. The FBI has a presence in Sanaa, the capital, so there are FBI people already there.

The official said the focus of the investigation remains overseas and that there are no links to suspects in the United States at this point.

- CNN's Jeanne Meserve, Carol Cratty and Diana Magnay contributed to this report.

Why didn't Israel tell the US of this plot as soon as it found out?

Forensically speaking, we should be able to get very close to whoever created this bomb and know the location of where it was created through the genealogy of the toner cartridge.

Correct. Not everyone should be painted with the same brush stroke. But I have a question....how come mankind is not hearing others of the faith speaking out against terrorism?

As a child, I was always fascinated with my own feces. I would sometimes roll it into balls with my hands and then insert them into my nostrils. Once I made christmas ornaments out of my poo, glazed & baked them in the kiln at school. We hung them on the tree, mom was so proud. Next year, I'll try cookies. We're gonna need alot more sugar, I'll supply the fecal matter.

Oh no, someone somewhere in the world doesn't like us. Send in the assassination drones! And an approach that has proven to make things worse instead of better: blocking non-military goods had the opposite effect in Iraq. In Iraq, all it did was strengthen Saddam because anything that did get through went to him, and his enemies were doubly starved. Also there were glaring loopholes for goods that politically connected American companies made and wanted to profit from selling to Iraq. If we are seen as trying to take away goods necessary for the functioning of hospitals, schools, or day to day life, it will turn everyone against us instead of just Muslim fanatics, and rightly so.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was it not first reported (and shown) a cell phone circuit board as a trigger for the bombs? Now they say they were on a timer. Which is it? Also, I never seen a power supply for either.
