A Michigan assistant attorney general who started a blog against the University of Michigan's openly gay student body president has been fired, the state attorney general's office said Monday.
Michigan Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvell had taken a voluntary leave of absence earlier this fall after his blog garnered national media attention. Shirvell, a graduate of the university, took issue with what he called the student body president's "radical homosexual agenda."

I don't think anyone who's "snarling" about a nanny state understands the story. This assistant AG was most certainly acting like a "nanny" by devoting so much time and energy into where a university student put his wee wee. So basically your ok with the government constructing a website to follow your bedroom actions, but it's a nanny state mentality to tell the government to stay out of your bedroom. Nice logic. You can't be opposed to big brother's grip on your life then condone big brother's intrusion into other's lives. Did your head just explode? I know critical thinking hurts.

Let's see if they're ok with it or not. There's a difference between being anti-gay publicly and making a website devoted to the embarrassment of a private citizen. the asst AG was following the Student body President home and protesting outside his house and video tapping him from across the street. Please, not even a free speech issue. The asst AG clearly is crazy and needs meds and counselling. Who cares what his hate blog was about, he was getting out of control and approaching violence. I hope if someone was doing that to Glenn Beck that they would lose their job as asst AG. For the love of sense and order. sheesh
