The Stockholm Criminal Court on Thursday issued an international arrest warrant for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on probable cause, saying he is suspected of rape, sexual molestation and illegal use of force.
The court also ordered Assange arrested in his absence, which requires Swedish authorities anywhere in the world to detain Assange if they come across him. Sweden's director of prosecutions, Marianne Ny, had requested the arrest in absence.
"The background is that he has to be heard in this investigation and we haven't been able to get a hold of him to question him," Ny said earlier
Thursday.

this guy would blow your cover for the sheer pleasure of doing it! Prominence and associated power abused for profit and lovimg every minute of it.
Gee,I didn't know that.
Who takes orders from Sweden? Sweden prospers from harboring financial croks like the Bank for International Settlements. Fav euro-destination of Fed Reserve chairmen.
Firstly, the BIS has its headoffice in Basel, Switzerland, not Sweden. Secondly, Sweden (or Switzerland for that matter) has the Euro so by definition, it can't be a "fav Euro destination". Thirdly, since the arrest was in the form of av European Arrest Warrant, by EU law, every EU member state has to pay attention. Check your facts, mister.

I wonder just how big of a hand did the C.I.A. have in this. I guess that we'll never know!
Phuck the swedes!!

Wow, is this the outcome of "Freedom" in America? Exert one's childish impulses on another driven by elementary ideologies? We like to think we're the "Beacon of Hope" in the world, yet we're the most ignorant of them all. Reminds me of Friedrich Nietzsche's "Twilight of the Idols" when he writes: "He who possesses strength flings intellect to the deuce ('let it go hence!' [...] 'the Empire will remain!')."
I doubt the legaility of Sweden's intent to arrest him outside of Sweden by Swedish authorities.
Under international public law, a country's authority ends at its borders. That's the principle of sovereignty. And that's also why countries usually ask for extraditions.
There is a European Arrest Warrant so he is wanted in all EU countries.
