Boys found alive after 50 days at sea

For three boys from the Tokelau Islands the word miracle has a whole new meaning.

After going missing following a sporting event in October, and after several unsuccessful searches by New Zealand's air force, they were presumed dead. About 500 people on the island held a memorial service for them.

But for Samuel Perez and Filo Filo, both 15, and Edward Nasau, 14, this story ended in the most unbelievable way - being rescued by a tuna ship near Fiji after 50 days at sea.

Since October 5, the three survived with limited supply. They shared a single raw seagull and drank a tiny bit of rainwater. They eventually resorted to drinking small amounts of sea water, Australia's Herald Sun reported.

On Wednesday afternoon, their saga finally came to an end when the tuna boat, the San Nikunau, saw their small aluminum boat floating in the middle of open waters. They were and 750 nautical miles (1,300 km) away from where they went missing.

'We got to them in a miracle," the first mate, Tai Fredricsen, told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"They were in reasonably good spirits for how long they'd been adrift," Fredricsen told the Herald Sun. "They were very badly sunburnt. They were in the open during the day up in the tropics there. But really they just needed basic first aid."

Call it a miracle, or call it luck, but for these boys, it was a rescue that might not have happened if not for chance.

The tuna boat was fishing far from where it usually does, the crew told the Herald Sun. It was taking a shortcut home to New Zealand when it stumbled upon the boys.

The boys were being checked at a hospital but were ecstatic to finally be able to speak by phone to their families.

"They've got a lot of gusto, a lot of strong mental spirit," Fredricsen told the Morning Herald. "Physically they are very [distraught] but mentally they are very strong."

I used to be afraid to ask myself if I beleived in God. That God might exist was a scary thought. When I truly did ask, and faced that fear... I discovered faith. Are you afraid to find out? Ask and you just may receive. Seek and you just may find.

i figures if he does exist, and he's an all loving god, he won't fault me for using common sense.
and if he's not an all loving god, but an angry and vindictive one, then we're all screwed anyways

An athesist walks through the forest admiring the forest trees, the blue sky and all of God's creation except he does not believe it is from God. A great bear jumps out at him and as he is lying on the ground the athiest yells "oh God". Everything freezes, the bear stops in mid-air frozen and a voice asks, "Why have you denied me, you deny this creation I made for you and you have denied me, are you ready to say I exist?" The atheist now knows God exists but says " I will be a hypocrite asking for you go save me now, so please God, why don't you rather make the bear a Christian instead of me?. the Lord says "Very well then". The world unfreezes and the bear sits and puts his paws together and says 'Thanks you Lord for this delicious meal I'm about to eat".
You non-believers will eventually find out that God is real, we live in a sinful world and that is why bad things happen, because of people who have no belief and no value and because of Christians who failed to live up to their responsibility and given Christianity a bad name. God could prove Himself but He always gives us a choice and that is why you need faith, it would be easy to believe if we could have proof, God wants us to choose him by faith and that is why we will be rewarded with eternal life, because it is not easy being a Christian and believing in something you don't see but do feel.
If Christians always only had good things happen to them, people would choose Christianity for the wrong reasons. it would be for what they could get, not because they accept God for who He is.
All you have to do to know for sure is really want to know and put it to the test. Go to a room and pray and ask God through the Holy spirit in Jesus name to please reveal Himself to you, but you must really want to know. God is the author of everything and He will find a way to communicate His authenticity to you, things will happen that have no other explanation. That is the only way to be sure, it is a deep knowledge, a presence inside you but you must seek it and really want to know.

i have proof there is NO god.. (read small list below).. there is simply no argument against the facts.. religion is the biggest hypocrisy.. proven time and again throughout historical records.. quite literally a scare tactic created by the few with wealth and power to control the masses.. there are contradictions all through every religious mentality.. the list can go on and on and on.. take your pick.. IF there was a "god",, even slightly resembling what most brainwashed people think it to be,, there is no way our current global situation would exist.. wake up people.. think for yourselves..

    the salem witch trials
    the crusades
    world war I
    world war II
    koreran war
    vietnam war (conflict)
    aids
    smallpox
    black plague
    the holocaust
    racial / ethnic cleansing
    any terrorism
    genocide
    blood diamonds

"Mr. Columbus did not discover north america.. there were plenty of people here before he arrived.."
    you can quote me!! 🙂

There is no such thing as *random*.... we use the term when the forces that cause an event are too complicated, or too detailed to be described. I like to think of God as rules by which these events are regulated, and as such, it would explain both good and bad. In this case it would be a miracle that they survived.

Its amazing how crazy some people act. This is a positive story about young men who have been given a second chance a story of survival. And these blogs are about who saved the kids god or satan. Since were going there "No One is Saved until they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior". You may not like that but who cares if you follow Satan ..if you wanna go to hell be my guest!!

Not much threat to those who don't believe in hell. I could just as well say that if you don't believe in hephalumps, you're going to a place where it rains tofu chunks and chilled monkey brains. Makes about as much sense.

It's amazing how much religious people will desperately twist things to fit their fairytales. Anyway, glad to hear the boys survived this.
