President Barack Obama received 12 stitches Friday after being inadvertently hit with an opposing player's elbow in the lip while playing basketball with friends and family, according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
The stitches were administered by the White House Medical Unit.
The medical procedure was done in the doctor's office on the ground floor of the White House.

Deserves a break from patching up our economy that ended up bailed out at the end of 2008 with climbing deficits, -6.4% GDP loss, and 770,000+ jobs loss a month (off what started off a robust economy with surpluses in 2000). Now slowly but surely we are back to positive jobs though the damage remains heavy, our GDP is growing and he has retrieved back most of our bailouts. Still some way to go but hang in there Mr President and stay active.
Deficits have grown by $3Trillion since Obamanut has been in office. Unemployment has gone up by 2 – 3% on the average around the country. And people want us to believe he is doing a good job? After 9/11, the unemployment went up to 7 – 8%, country was headed towards a significant recession, which Bush averted. Before taking office in 2000, the stock market had a significant sell off, the dot.com boom was collapsing, before Bush took office. 9/11 made it worse, but we recovered. After that we had the liberals in Congress such as Barney Frank advocating and promoting home ownership by everyone, whether you could afford it or not. Passed legislation, where if you turned down a minority, banks were sued. Liberal policies accelerated the problem with the housing industry loans. In 2008, Barney Frank gives a speech denouncing the Republicans for exaggerating the potential home loan bust and declares that the Republicans are fear mongering for saying that the housing industry is on the verge of collapse. Of course, that was Bush's fault.
Under Bush, SOX was passed to prevent the abuse and fraud that went on in the 90's with companies such as Enron and others. It was during the 90's that companies were running rampant, skimming funds for executives, padded expense accounts, fraudulent accounting practices. In 2002 – 2003, the Bush administration passed SOX to prevent this abuse.
Keep mouthing what MSNBC tells you or the Huffington Post or the View or Move On, but this President is terrible. He denounces America while in Mexico and elsewhere in foreign countries. You have an idiot like Napolitano with the airport security, while at the same time suing Arizona for enforcing the immigration laws. Who is a bigger threat – illegal crminals coming over the border or mom and dad flying to see Grandma and Grandpa. I am all for airport security, but our administration is totally screwed up with priorities in security. More concerned with making illegals legal, without knowing who they are or what there intentions are.

Sorry but I have to chime in. Save your teleprompter BS. All modern presidents use them. At least Obama can hold a press conference and answer questions off script. Bush could rarely if ever be bothered to do such things. Obama can also right a speech. The actor complaint is even more delusional. Regan was was an actor and a puppet, Obama is not. Glen beck is an actor and false idol. I feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to fall under the spell of his tired and insulting dog and pony show. I don't have a problem with him using the teleprompter. I have a problem with the fact that the teleprompter is used to make him appear to be someone he's not. When he goes off script, you hear how he really thinks and what he really believes (i.e. "May be better not to pay for Grandma's surgery, and to take the pain meds instead")...and what he thinks and believes is far too often very frightening.

I think playing basketball is a choice, much like overeating and smoking. As a taxpayer, I think we should increase the premiums on people who play basketball.
Well, except that for a busted lip once in awhile, playing basketball doesn't kill you or give you one of a number of life long diseases like overeating or smoking! Clearly a difference, well at least for a rational person there is clearly a difference.
