The FBI announced a $10,000 reward Sunday for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for an apparent attack on an Oregon Islamic center.
The center was was attended by the man authorities say was behind a foiled bomb plot at a recent Portland Christmas tree lighting.
A fire appears to have started sometime early Sunday morning at the Salman AlFarisi Islamic Center in Corvallis, Oregon, authorities said. The building suffered some fire and smoke damage.
Mohamed Osman Mohamud, who was arrested in connection with the plan to detonate what he thought was an explosives-laden van at a Portland tree-lighting ceremony Friday night, occasionally attended the center, the mosque's imam told CNN.
violence begets violence
Hey dr bad! Can you offer an intelligent retort without referencing swear words, insults, ex-wives or your nurse... ? ... (Didn't think so)
@Orogonian Muslim....You posted "they are at war with everyone that does not share their depraved world view", while those doing these crimes claim the Koran commands them. So are they "extemeists" or are they faithful to Allah? There are many verses in the Koran that show what many call extreme, Allah calls holy. "Slay them wherever you find them" and "Fighting is obligatory for you as much as you dislike it" are two quotes from the Koran, Sura 2:191-2:16. So you have members of the same religion, each claiming the other is not faithful to God. To be fair, it's much the same with Christianity. Some "obey God as ruler rather than men" and others who obey their government regardless of what the Bible says . Muslims who are true to the Koran slay infidels. Christianits who are true to the Bible love and pray for their enemies. Those who are not true to Jesus seek revenge and slay their enemies in the name of God, not unlike terrorists do in the name of Allah.
Quoth you: To be fair, it's much the same with Christianity...
Sorry dude. You don't see Christians in the amounts that you see Muslims doing this kind of stuff. I can count on one hand the very stupid acts of Christians in the last 5 years.
There are not enough fingers and toes in my neighborhood that can count the acts of these evil muslims. Something about that religion just drives them into a frothing-at-the-mouth kind of frenzy.
Nope...your comparison is really apples and oranges. Allahu Akhbar! Ka-BOOM!!!!!!!!
@phil, the quranic and biblical version of war are very similar. In Islam, war is mainly an act of self-defence or to defend the suppressed from agression. Infact the Islamic principles of war are extremely similar to the "just war theory", i.e. you cannot harm innocent men, women, children, elderly, even destroying a tree is forbidden. Everyone who surrenders enters protection. Now, what these extremists are doing isn't war, it's criminal, it's not self-defence, its terrorizing innocent people who for no fault of their own become an object of this extremist agression. Islam is not a new religion, it is the same religion that gave the world scholars and pioneers and poets: al-gebra, al-chemy, astronomy, poets, infact all the major works of greek philosophers were preservered in arabic, the lingua-franca of the middle ages before it was restored to the west, most educated people are aware of these facts. It is really unfortunate that most depraved individuals claim ties to a progressive religion, and in turn try to present a view of islam that simply ins't true. Extreme Christians may do things in the name of Jesus that are toitally disconnected from his teachings, such is true of all twisted behaviors in every religion.
Sura 2:191 thru 2:216 rather. (Bible verse quoted is Acts 5:29)
BURN THEM ALL DOWN!
well that wasn't nice of me. monday you know. sorry
@evil you ever seen the christians speak in tongues use venomous snakes cage fight all in the name of God? anything when done to extremes will illicit the same response. then look at the mega churches they have tv shows and pastors that seem to not get practice what you preach?
Yes, people claiming to be Christians commit heinous crimes everyday. The difference here, is that these are acts done by individuals or underground groups. With Muslims, you have very large groups and government agencies committing the heinous acts. Asia Bibi was dragged off in Pakistan by an entire village of Muslims for criticizing Muhammed. She was beaten and those who beat her received no punishment. The police actually arrested her and continue to hold her. She has even by sentenced to die by a governing body for this act.
Really, are there any modern cases of an entire village of Christians beating someone for criticizing Christ? Do you know of any modern organized Christian government bodies or police that have arrested and sentenced someone to death for criticizing Christ?
This does not even compare.
@Caser, Eat me
Tomcat! Good point you made there.
@Evil...Yes we do see so-called "Christians" doing the exact same things that these 'faithful to the Koran' are doing. Muslim's who kill infidels can at least say their holy book directed them to do so. "Christians" who seek revenge on their enemies CAN'T rightly say the Bible directed them to do so. The bible commands Christians to love their enemies, not go out of their way and seek vengeance. ( or get online and encourage retaliation like you did.)
Im belived that muslims and mosque are mocked out of word too bad
Plant a bomb, burn a mosque. Sorry, I don't see the distinction
Religions divide humanity so glad I'm not part of this human opium.
What if those of us who belong to an organized religion are right and you're wrong? If we're wrong, the worst that happens to us is that we die, get buried and turn to dirt. If we're right, someday a wonderful reward is waiting for us in heaven. If you're wrong . . . do you know what's going to happen to you when you die?
Freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion. But don't blame religion for nutjobs. There's nothing in Islam that says it's OK to murder people. Nothing in Christianity that says it's OK to murder either, But nutjobs have often used religion to "justify" the evil things they do. Their acts are so vile that they want to distance themselves, so they say they were just acting on behalf of some god. Even though that god's religion says that murder is wrong. It only shows how little these people understand the religions that they claim to believe in. Jesus said "do good to those who persecute you", "love your neighbor as you love yourself", "turn the other cheek", but there are posts here from "Christians" who seem not to know anything about what Jesus taught his followers.
No sympathy for a mosque where members bang their heads 5 times a day and recite arabic verses they have NO idea what they mean. But consider this...Remember back in 2007 when the PEW Research Group reported that:
"1 in 4 (26%) U.S. Young Muslims OK with Homicide Bombings Against Civilians."
Come on people...what do you expect from this cult ideology called Islam?!?!
And that is just for Muslims living HERE in this country...not some Islamic arm pit like the Middle East!
Think about it...Mohamed Osman Mohamud is just your typical jihadist following Islam as his terrorist prophet intended. He is simply being a "good" Muslim, nothing less!
'Infidel", he's being much less. No good Muslim would murder anyone. Islam forbids murder. Read the Koran and find the truth of that. By the way, one of our NATO allies, Turkey, is a Muslim nation. Turkish soldiers fought alongside Americans in the Korean War. We are not and never have been at war with Islam. Islam is no more a terrorist religion than Christianity or Judaism. Twisted, evil people have used all of those religions to "justify" their own acts of terrorism for centuries. Don't blame religion for acts of terror, blame the people who commit those acts of terror. They clearly have no understanding of Islam, Christianity, or Judaism.
