News outlets publish cables leaked by Wikileaks

Details of classified U.S. government documents leaked by whistleblower website WikiLeaks were published Sunday by four international news outlets.

No documents had been posted on WikiLeaks, which said via Twitter earlier Sunday that it was under cyber attack, when five newspapers - the New York Times, the Guardian in England, Le Monde in France, Der Spiegel in Germany and El Pais in Spain - put details from the leaked documents on their websites.

The United States had warned WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange that publishing the papers would be illegal and endanger peoples' lives.

Earlier Sunday, Wikileaks tweeted that it was experiencing a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack. That's an effort to make a website unavailable to users, normally by flooding it with requests for data.

WikiLeaks founder and site is nothing more than a Benedict Arnold selling out state secrets to the enemy. In war time that would be considered treason and a reason to be shot.

Benedict Arnold was a traitor. Treason requires you to owe allegiance. Assange is not an American.

They should be tried for espionage, not treason. The same punishment could be carried out for both.

You moron, he's not an American, and therefore not subject to US law anymore than you are to Iranian law.
Your comments reveal you believe moree in a Fascist Dictatorship like N. Korea has, than a free democracy like the USA.

Nope. This is a public discussion blog and it's sole purpose is to invite comments. You love peace, but maybe you should learn to love reading. You don't monopolize the discussion board. I happen to think wikileaks is just as bad as the criminals who are killing innocents overseas. Next this Assange guy is going to write a book about his brave crusade against the evil corporate empires! A movie is in the works too I suspect. It's all so predictable.

Agreed. This site was doing nothing to help the United States of America. It endangers our military personnel and our country as a whole.

Whoever has launched this attack could easily have done the same thing the first time wikileaks made sensitive information available. The fact is that for whatever reason they didn't want to stop that release, but they are trying to stop this one. It's selective censorship. They're willing to try to prevent a release to save face, but not to save lives.

Oh yeah, the U.S. is definitely worse than China, Iran, every country in Africa, all the Arab nations, all the central American countries.

@ master_kush...yes perhaps you're right BUT the missing link here is "INNOCENT". Can you give me figures how many of those America had killed are INNOCENTS. And can you tell me how may INNOCENT lives was perished in 911 ATTACK, in MUMBAI INDIA and other attacks made by cold blooded terrorist.

I would love to see 1,000 terrorists dead or more if it's what it takes to save just 1 INNOCENT LIFE.
