10:30 am ET - Pentagon briefing on Afghanistan – U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Robert Harward briefs reporters on detention operations in Afghanistan.

1:00 pm ET - White House briefing – The White House holds its daily briefing with reporters.

2:00 pm ET - Pentagon briefing – Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen brief reporters from the Pentagon.  They are expected to discuss a new report on gays and lesbians in the military.

3:30 pm ET - Debt commission briefing – The co-chairs of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform brief reporters on the state of negotiations.

4:00 pm ET - Sen. Chris Dodd says farewell – Sen. Christopher Dodd, a Democrat from Connecticut, delivers his final speech on the Senate floor.  Dodd did not seek re-election this year.
