WikiLeaks founder Assange suspected of sex crimes

Interpol has issued an international warrant at the request of a Swedish court for the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in connection with alleged sex crimes.

The Stockholm Criminal Court last week issued an international arrest warrant for Assange on probable cause, saying he is suspected of rape, sexual molestation and illegal use of force. Sweden asked Interpol to post a "Red Notice" after a judge approved a motion to bring him into custody.

The arrest warrant stems from allegations made against Assange, who is Australian, in August. In a November, Assange's lawyer said the sex-crime charges stem from consensual sexual relationships his client had with two women.

This reminds me of the way people went after Napster originally to hopefully stop illegal file sharing. You know, once you stop this guy, another one is going to pop up to take his place. That's the pattern.. It's nothing political.. It's more a technical problem than anything else. But sure, keep going after figureheads, and the snake will grow a new one.. puh.

It fits his profile; arrogant and egotistical puke that thinks he can do as he damn pleases. The same arrogance and force he exercises on women too

You're myopic if you believe Sweden wasn't strong-armed into this move...problem is: it's too transparent. Reminds me of the Bushie and his WMDs that never materialized, yet all the sheep went right on grazing.

Be careful what you wish for. I cant imagine that someone who would work as hard as Assange has to make Wikileaks happen would create a distraction in his life so dramatic that it would make the walls come tumbling down. When you take on all the most powerful people in the world someone is going to get you. Assange is a dead man, and I think he knows it. That is why so much is coming so fast. Theft would not be enough. They had to get him on the worst of all crimes. Murder is more forgiveable. They leave him with no allies, nowhere will he garner sympathy. It's the perfect setup.

the same people who are, as i'm typing this, ordering drone strikes on women and children, carrying out military exercises in a high tension area in an attempt to start a war that will kill hundreds of thousands of civilians, are complaining that this will put lives at risk?!?!?! They make me sick. The only people that this is putting in danger are corrupt government officials who deserve to die anyway. Assange should have been one of CNN's heros. More power to him!

@Zen-ichi-Maro Assange WAS whistleblower exposing a cover ups of US misdeeds. He has transferred from that with this latest round of leaks. The problem is 2-fold. A) If US diplomats are unable to give their candid descriptions and impressions of world leaders back to the US without making them politically correct so as not to offend any leaders then we will never get those accurate assessments. B) If foreign leaders and diplomats can't trust that what they tell US diplomats in what was supposed to be private, then lines of communication between the US and others will also stop being as true and frank as it needs to be to accomplish realistic goals in foreign policy.

@Charles I rarely say anything that would put me in that kind of situation. When I talk bad about someone I stand behind what I say, unless someone proves me wrong. If proven wrong I am the first one to admit it and offer an apology. Isn't that the way things should be, not only for individuals but everyone, including governments? I had a recent situation where someone had asked me if I had said something about them, I told them the truth and put what I said into context even though I knew there was a high possibility that they would beat the heck out of me. For standing up and telling the truth no matter the consequences you will command respect from your peers, even if that means you take a few knots and bruises. We have turned into a country of liars and cheats. I think it's time we start telling the truth, and work towards being a country that can command respect once again.

You fools willingly surrender your freedom for some misguided ideology that your new masters will be more benevolent then your previous ones. Freedom is becoming an illusion to control the masses.
