Interpol has issued an international warrant at the request of a Swedish court for the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in connection with alleged sex crimes.
The Stockholm Criminal Court last week issued an international arrest warrant for Assange on probable cause, saying he is suspected of rape, sexual molestation and illegal use of force. Sweden asked Interpol to post a "Red Notice" after a judge approved a motion to bring him into custody.
The arrest warrant stems from allegations made against Assange, who is Australian, in August. In a November, Assange's lawyer said the sex-crime charges stem from consensual sexual relationships his client had with two women.

This is ironic. What happened to freedom of speech. This is a dangerous game that govts are playing. More importantly, it's a real threat to our civil liberties. This guy exposed the truth and they are trying to frame him for any other crime they can come up with. If this doesn't tell the truth about the substance of our governments I don't know what does. What a shame!
Well John, What happened to the right to privacy and security in your person and papers? Do you REALLY think transparency is a good thing? Do you tell your wife all the thoughs you have about the hottie at the coffee shop? Do you tell her the indecent thoughts you have for your hair dresser? Didn't think so. If you think the rapist is doing a good thing then start living that kind of life.
Well Eric,
Whatever happened to "if you've got nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear?" If the US and other governments weren't already engaging in corrupt and illegal acts, then perhaps they wouldn't be so afraid of this man and what he might release next.
Um yes, transparency *is* a good thing. Only an authoritarian would argue otherwise. Perhaps you want us to become like the Soviets?
Eric,
It seems not only are you unclear on the concept and distinction of public versus private, but you are a liar as well. For your information I do tell my wife about the "hottie" I saw, and she is equally as open and honest. That is the essence of truth and trust. It is not only to be exercised when convenient or comfortable.
Here's a quick civics lesson for you, as it seems you may have missed that day in school. The government is a PUBLIC organization, so therefore we do have a right to know. Not just when it's "comfortable".
Lastly, you should go apologize to your wife for your apparent dishonesty and mistrust.
Anyone who is against the leaking of these materials is an idiot. It is about time people wake up and understand why we are such a hated nation. We are war mongrels who economy is very dependent upon making weapon. We tell all these other countries to clean up their act and we cannot simply take care of business at home. Anyone who has traveled outside the US would understand why the USA is looked down upon. I can' wait until the bank and drug company releases hit the web. We are a very corrupt nation and we need to clean house starting with our government representatives. Thank you WikiLeaks for a job well done!
Sorry, it isn't just the US government that is corrupt. It is ALL government, country is irrelelvant. Too bad you don't realize that.
This is ironic. What happened to freedom of speech?? This is a dangerous game that govts are playing. More importantly, it's a real threat to our civil liberties. This guy exposed the truth and they are trying to frame him for any other crime they can find. If this doesn't tell the truth about the substance of our governments (lies, crimes, etc) I don't know what does. What a shame!
Wow, the problem isn't Wikileaks, or the founder. The problem is how does this information become obtained by a civilian, or any person without a clearance. I personally believe the CIA or NSA, the same people who are suppose to protect this country with secrets, and our secrets, are not really fulfilling their duties. The old phrase, 'Spring Cleaning" should take place in the government agencies, and offices of those who are responsible for the protection of our secrets. I always thought it was crazy when my father said that technology such as the internet and computers will bring this country down, and after all this, I am starting to believe he is right.
Tim–you are an idiot! Speak for yourself dummy!
Really? So what is your opinion and expertise? You simply state people don't apparently know as much as you huh God? So do tell. Feel free to enlighten mankind with your years of hard earned wisdom.
Mr. Assange professes to be interested in truth when in reality he is only interested in Mr. Assange.
I say Julian – Release everything or put everything on self release timer. That way, even if you are arrested, all the dirt on government will come out. He is getting arrested now because he is about to release all info on Bank of America fraud and how the whole financial crisis went down and the actual truth behind it. I hope he releases all of them. or mails it to someone credible.
Bet we get his supporters who aid him within a year
Let us pray: Lord, we offer up this message board as evidence that the sheeple of the United States of America are dumber than a bag of hammers and yet have no excuse for choosing to be that way, please cleanse the earth of these self-indulgent morons, fire would work just fine. Amen, the check's in the mail, Bob's your uncle.
Dear spaghetti monster make the Rev Hellhorn quit molesting boys
Assange knows who and where you are, you camel kisser. And you're next...
I don't know. Its all over the news now how employers are going through prospective employees facebook accounts looking for anything they can find on them. Sounds intrusive. But when it happens to governments, they act like the sky is falling. The beat thing the us can do is proudly stand behind everything that was leaked, say "yea,we said that, got a problem with it?"
Interpol exposed. Bad move on the part of Interpol and Swedish justice system. Sweden has lost credibility in my opinion. Good job kitty kitty (Sweden).
Wikileaks is senseless, reckless and shows a very, very bad case of ego. Assange is an Ass and what goes around, comes around.
Agreed.
Why all the hatred towards Assange? Good for him to have the courage to release information about secretive actions happening throughout the world to the comman man! It's about time the people know more about the actions its goverment, which is supposed to be representing them, is committing abroad!
Meanwhile Manning rots in jail
you are an idiot
Hahahahahahahhahahaa!
Wars are fought with bullets, bombs, pamphlets, cloaks and daggers...any person not involved with any of that should not stick their nose where it need not be unless they're willing to carry a rifle to protect it.
Thank you
Amen.
