Madoff son found dead of apparent suicide

Mark Madoff, the son of convicted Ponzi-schemer Bernard Madoff, apparently killed himself while his wife was out of town and his 2-year-old son was asleep in a nearby bedroom, New York police officials said Saturday.

Deputy New York Police Commissioner Paul Browne said Madoff's father-in-law discovered the body around 7:30 a.m. Saturday and his grandson sleeping in another room. Madoff was fully clothed and hanging from a ceiling pipe with a dog leash around his neck. The boy was unharmed.

Prior to his death, Madoff e-mailed his wife in Florida with "words to the effect that someone should check on his son," Browne said.

It is not known whether Madoff left a suicide note, he said.

Respect! We should stop viewing suicide as something negative:

It is horrible when someone has lost all hope and has so much emotional pain that suicide seems like a reasonable answer...The pain that their family endures after the loss is horrible..My condolences to his family..

For the love of the money is the greatest evil. Daddy provided and he was "hooked" on it. Now that it's gone, there was no point in living.

The love of money is a root to all kinds of 'bad things'. I am sad for him & his family, even knowing the untold suffering caused be "Pa's" crimes. Freedom without common morals cannot stand. Prime example of "consequences". From Bernie's crimes a 2 year old child will grow up with the painful knowledge of a "family of frauds". Sad story.

The problem here is simple, this guy was a spoiled rotten little brat, a crook, and as greedy as his father.. He knew what his father and the entire family was up to when they scamed the people.. This is a very good case of CARMA!!! The bad thing here is that his baby was robbed of a daddy and the child is an innocent party here.. I fell very bad about this asspect, but the rest of these greedy crooks should come foward and spill the beans about the entire situation before CARMA catches up to them as well... And it will eventually!!!

This will cause enormous pain to Bernie Madoff, which is perhaps the only good thing that will come of this.
