A shooting took place at a school board meeting in Panama City, Florida, on Tuesday, a school official confirmed.
The incident occurred at the Bay District Schools' Nelson Building, said Tracy Fidler, assistant to the district's deputy superintendent.
"There has been an incident and police are on the scene," she said. "No school board members were injured."
She could provide further details or confirm reports that a person was carried out on a stretcher.
CNN affiliate WJHG reported that the shooting took place at the county's Tuesday school board meeting.

If you want evidence of the dumbing-down of America all you need do is read blogs like this one. Question: Is it that people do think clearly but are unable to express their thoughts in writing, or is it the other way around - that because we've lost the ability to express ourselves we can no longer think rationally? Either way we've become a laughing stock as a nation!
AMEN! I really wonder what happened to LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. People, we better start sticking together and stop cutting each other down...foreign countries are laughing all the way to the bank....(unless we take them down with us). My thoughts go out to the wife and children, if they had any, of that man and of course anyone that was involved. It's truly sad that someone feels they have to proove their point like that.
Yes, FL is a stange state but I'm sure we're not the worse state....and if you don't like it here PLEASE do us a favor and don't come. Maybe then we'll get off of the list of being a vacation spot and get some good paying jobs around here! NO MORE OIL DRILLING EITHER!!!
Alright kids, computer playtime is over. Best go wash up and make mama proud. She will have dinner ready soon.
If there's a child devoting internet time to a news website, I think mama's already quite proud.
Panama City is such a fail.. even gunmen can't kill people right.
You all epilepsy
You're all epileptic
@Elvenspy and. @Karren: OK, the word "not" should have been there if that was the writer's intent. But this is just one oversight. The article is clear, concise, and to the point. Do you two young ladies do this kind of work regularly?
You ask for one instance of an error and when one is given you defend it instead of thanking the person. Therefore, nothing would make you happy.
If the person could NOT confirm anything, then why not ask someone else, who could? Duh!
@Scott: The statement, "She could provide further details or confirm reports that a person was carried out on a stretcher," is correct and error free, unless the reader wishes to change the point or has a different point interpretation from that of the writer. I asked for an example, and if this is the alleged error, I question it for the above mentioned. You are the one that is not happy. Thank you.
Wow!!! Really ppl! Violence is everywhere and 4 ppl to say the "its a surprise" or "that could never happen in my neighborhood" you really need to wake up! Guns are a part of American History and will continue to be until WE THE PPL stop wit the ignorance and start lookin at each other as HUMANS FIRST! We have a lot of ppl out there who are scared of everything and everyone, passin judgement on groups of ppl(black, white, etc), takin someone elses opinion about some thing instead of doin the foot work and findin out for themselves, and the list goes on. If u read most spritually based books they tell u that the flesh leads to all sin and that enlightenment comes from the search within ones self for happiness. If u dont believe in a higher power, thats ok. U can leave a story for ppl to tell when ur gone but what will it b about. The good you did for others or the bad u did to others. Peace to all!
Why in sam h-e double hocky sticks would anyone give a rat's a** about a typo in a blog updating readers about a shooting that occurred.
Clockwork Orange, anyone?
AMERICAN'S NEED TO STOP ACTING LIKE FOOLS AND START CARING FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS. We all hurt in one way or another....
@Karen: You're good, but then again you should be, after all, this is your field.
@Karen: Sorry, but you have a sentence fragment, this is an error. It should read:" "Sorry, but I don't know why some of you are gripping and whinning." It should be griping and whining." You were missing the subject, it.
This is the first time I have posted anything but when I saw the video on CNN of the School Board Shooting I had to respnd. This is horrible. to show on TV with or without warning. I believe this is going way too far.
@Karren. Don't feel bad because you made a grammatical error. You're still good with such attention to detail. With a name like Karren, you're probably a pretty girl. Why don't you take a break from editing and see a movie with your boyfriend?
