A high school teacher in Michigan is fighting for her livelihood after school officials learned she once took a part-time job as an exotic dancer. But school officials say her performance as a school employee, not as a stripper, is what got her in trouble.
Susan Brennan, 42, took the job while on medical leave in 2006 when she and her then-husband were going through serious financial problems, CNN affiliate WOOD-TV reported.
Officials with West Ottawa Public Schools in Holland, Michigan, have suspended Brennan with pay and filed 10 charges with the school board at Monday's board meeting. However, the charges - filed in a request for a tenure hearing - pertain only to her performance in the classroom, not on the stage, the Grand Rapids Press reported.
"The charges last night were based on her teaching competency and professionalism in the classroom," school board president Scott VanderStoep told the paper Tuesday.
Brennan said people need to be compassionate and understand that many women become exotic dancers out of desperation.
"If any good can come out of this, it would be that people understand why women work in those clubs," she said.
She's better off not working for that district. Ottawa co.,MI is a very idealistic, staunchly right-wing area. She'd never get a fair break ever again. Move on dear. Try writting a book. Forget them!
Writing a book and exposing all the district's dirty linen sounds like a good way to to help improve this school district. She should also look into using her time to push a recall of school board members.
SHE is saying the school board is after her because of the stripping. The truth is, is that she is a bad teacher! My daughter had her last year. She was constantly on her cell phone during class, would show up some times 30 min late for class. Many inconsistancies in her grading, if she liked you, good grades, if not, not so good. I personally
know many parents that their kids had issues with her. Don't be fooled, she had an ajenda by releasing this information to the public. Make it look like a witch hunt and maybe the public will pitty me. This is no witch hunt! With so many people out there with the desire to teach our children, lets stop paying this one to sit at home on leave and get some one in there who wants to set a good example of responsibility. The only good thing to come out of my daughters experience is that she now wants to be a teacher. A good, respectable, fair teacher.
Shut up jesus christ
It sounds to me like SoSad's daughter is a chip off of mothers block. II bet she wasn't doing her work and mon is mad that the teacher graded the little brat appropriately.
Thank you for any other fantastic article. Where else may just anyone get that kind of information in such an ideal method of writing? I've a presentation subsequent week, and I am at the search for such information.
